Advice on Racking to a "secondary fermentation" sought.

Thanks for the replies, and specifically on terminology Pie Man. This will be my sixth attempt and fifth beer, and the most complicated process thus far, so I am understandably concerned. Allow me to clear up the information I have provided. This is my own recipe. In the initial boil I added a...

Advice on Racking to a "secondary fermentation" sought.

I am getting ready to rack ( I think that is the appropriate term) a brew (I'm not sure what the appropriate term is here, since it is definitely not a wort, it has been fermenting for a week or so) into a a secondary bucket. I am doing this to add strawberries to the brew. I've been told it...

anything to do with the bottom of the Fermenting bucket?

It was sanitized with heat, in a dishwasher, but I didn't use bleach or chemical sanitizer on it. So toss it, and next time be more careful?? It's only my fourth complete batch, so I haven't done a lot. - G -

What type of beer did I brew?

This may sound strange, or at least it potentially sounds strange, but I'm trying to determine what type of beer I brewed. I originally thought I would try and do a Belgian White, and designed the recipe, which is only my second recipe, around that. The Home Brew Supply store that I use was...

Hmm, I've only completed three batches, but here they are: The Falconsgate Trippel was a clone of Maredsous Triple Belgian. The Falconsgate Tripel Was a modification on the above recipe. The Falconsgate Fat Pat, was my first personal recipe, a stout initially brewed on 17 March, 2012.

Trying to compute initial Malt Bill

I am attempting to do a saisson ale, and am trying to determine the initial malt bill (as described in Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels). The book describes the concept of Target Gravity. I am unsure what that means. The type of ale I am doing has an original gravity of 1.048 to 1.065, and a...
