    Plastic bucket seal quality

    Thanks for all the responses. I wasn't going to say it before, but I did order the pail from MoreBeer, and I did call to ask about the lack of an o-ring. I'm not particularly paranoid, and my first batch in that bucket did turn out fine, but I really like to see the bubbles.

    The plastic bucket that I usually brew in has an o-ring in the lid and I always have lots of bubbles coming through the airlock during active fermentation. I bought an extra bucket from a different vendor and found out after I received it that it had no o-ring. I've brewed two batches in it...

    Re-bottle degassed witbier?

    Thanks for the responses. The gaskets were just replaced because I had a total failure to carbonate on the last batch (my first batch with the new bottles). I'm afraid the swing mechanism is not providing a tight enough fit. I do agree that the yeast should still be fine, it's only 6% alcohol...

    I made a batch of witbier that I bottled in E-Z cap style swing-top bottles. I also bottled a couple of regular capped bottles. Two weeks after bottling I opened one of the swing-top bottles, carbonation was a bit lighter than I expected, but the beer was good. A few days later I opened another...
