This is for a local beer competition where the specialty malt is rye. I never brewed with rye before so I didn't want to over do it, but I fear I may have played it too safe. Either way, it should turn out to be a very drinkable beer :D
This is my first brew with rye and I figured to start with 10% but I am getting a feeling I should have started with 15%. What are your thoughts on this??
Its a Rye IPA

I've used a coarse grind with a 4 to 1 ratio of water to coffee, cold brewed it for at least 24 hours an it worked well. I made a coffee stout that I added the cold brewed coffee to taste at bottling and the flavor was great. Cold brewed coffee is less bitter IMO.
Mashing a Hoppy Blonde Ale... well only hoppy compared to IBU/OG. OG Target 1.035 (used 50% Vienna/Munich mix and gonna hit it with enzymes in the 2ndary to dry it out) IBU Target 24 (2 oz Cascade and 1oz of centennial all in the last 30 mins)

I know this is a dead thread, but I was wondering the same thing. I found this website to help me figure it out.

Not really brewing..... but I just pitched yeast for 6 gallons of Hard Lemonade, 6 Gallons of Hard Iced Tea and 5 gallons of spiced holiday cider. Last weekend was beer weekend.... Made 6 gallons of American wheat beer and 6 gallons of a summer blonde ale. I love making alcohol :D
If you can't find it, I would just make a light wheat beer or blond ale and mix it with some home made hard lemonade.
MGD 64 Lemonade is basically a "Shandy". Wikipedia says "A shandy is a drink made of beer and juice or soda-water."
There are a few recipes here in the forums on how to...
I just followed this recipe about 3 hours ago.
I used 1tsp per gallon of yeast nutrient mixed with 2 cups of H2O to reconstitute EC-1118yeast and pitched with a vigorous stir to aerate well.
OG was 1.104 and I already have airlock activity. Hopefully this is the sign of success. :rockin...
That's awesome!! Brewing is always better with company. I got my brother into brewing about a year ago. It took forever to convince him to get into it, but now he is the one that asks me when we are gonna brew again. Its a great feeling to see someone as amped as you are about brewing. Its also...
Me and my wife haven't done anything for New Years in about 8 years (when oldest of 4 was born). Honestly I don't miss the drunken idiots and parties with people that are boring (despite their best attempt to be "fun"). I'm the only one awake right now and don't mind the peace and quiet. I'm...
I drink Schmidt's, High Life, Yuengling and the occasional PBR. I'm sure there is more I drink that I forgot to mention.
Of course I drink craft brew too. But I do have to admit that for some reason free beer does taste better than when I pay for it. ;)
