    Dubbel Stuck at 1.031

    Hello, I have a Belgian Dubbel that is at 1.031 and I am trying to get it down to 1.02 to avoid some bottle bombs. The fermentation has started off slow and has been slow ever since. Been in the primary for 4+ weeks now. Any advice on how to jump start things. Thanks

    I am purchasing 5 Gallons of fresh pressed unpasteurized cider from a local orchard. It is treated with UV rays. Do i need to heat this to kill off any unwanted yeast strains or will the UV take care of that for me. Thanks

    Slow start for fermentation

    I have had an issue with slow starting fermentation. The last 2 batches have both taken 48 hours to get going. I have used Wyeast smack packs that i allowed to sit at room temp for 4+ hours both times. Should I use a starter even when using the smack packs?
