I have a vial of unopened/unused White Labs California Ale Yeast that I was going to use for a batch that I ended up deciding to not finish during the initial brewing phase.
My friend violently shook up the yeast in the vial to prep for pouring it in the fermentation vessel once the time...
Thanks for the input guys. I'm now on Day 4 of fermentation for the batch. It seems to have slowed down a good bit...not so much activity today. The air-lock bubbling seems to have slowed down to every 9-10 seconds. I'll definitely go grab the tubing supplies at Home Depot as you recommended...

so, like an idiot...i counted incorrectly the amount of water for a 5 gallon batch into a 6.5 gallon carboy. i may have topped it off anywhere from a half gallon to 1 gallon too much. i already pitched the yeast and air-locked it a few hours ago.
am i totally screwed? is there anything i can...
