I've had a few batches that I really didn't care for the taste. I mixed it with other beers with stronger flavors and it went down pretty well.

Personally, I don't throw anything away until after it has aged for a year to make sure it is truly bad. Revvy gave great advice in his post, after all, you may find that you made a better beer than you had intended. Experimentation is the essence of this hobby, so be sure to let us know how...

I don't remember how much I paid, but I bought the square on at Walmart a couple of years back. It's a little more stable than the round one I had before that. I use it to heat my 15 gallon boil kettle with no problems.

My burner has the black box on the front with the 20 minute timer. I put a pair of vice grips on the timer knob when I'm boiling and it doesn't time out. It makes it a lot easier than remembering to turn the knob every little while.

I have beers that I brew in October every year, I leave them on the yeast until April. I keg them up and they are delicious for the summer. I don't worry about how long a beer sits on the yeast. In my experience, they just get better over time.

I lager all winter long in my garage, it works perfectly. When it warms up, I keg it all up and keep it cold for those long summer days of beer drinking.

I use an auto-siphon to transfer my brews. I'm afraid that if I sucked some good brew or cider down that hose, I might not stop until I slosh when I walk...:)

Here's mine: 5 gal apple juice from Sams club. No preservatives, only ascorbic acid. Costs about $12. 1 lb of dark brown sugar. Lalvin EC 1118 yeast. Let if ferment and clear for about a month and it's ready to drink. I keep it very plain at this stage and then jazz it up in the glass.

Cider is really hard to mess up. If it tastes good then you have done well. Like the others said, just let it clear and enjoy it. You have about a million serving options with cider, so don't be deterred. You can always flavor it up to cover up a lack of flavor or even an objectionable...

I leave mine in the fermenter for about a month until it clears and then rack to a keg. I don't bother with secondary for cider.
