Are there many women who brew?

Chemist - I went to college where the ratio was only about 1 girl for every 4 guys... so I'm used to the guys... McK - maybe that's why there aren't many girls around ;)

Are there many women who brew?

Maybe a bunch of dudes find the mental picture of a lady hauling a carboy fascinating! :)

    Newbie from Northern Minnesota

Hello from a former Yooper - enjoyed spending a little time in N. Minnesota when I was a kid! :) I'm just getting started myself - have a kit ready to bottle here soon! Liz

Are there many women who brew?

I have a feeling I'm in the minority here - not that that's bad... :) Liz

    New Michigan Brewer

Hello! I'm up in Midland - just made my first batch. It's also a Brewer's Best kit - I'm under the impression that the longer you let it stay in the bottles (at least 3 weeks) before drinking, the better the flavor. I am going to guess that the flavor will continue to improve the longer you...

    Another Michigan Brewer

Hello! Seems like there are tons of us from Michigan - I'm a Yooper transplanted to Midland. Been to Holly a few times for fest - hopefully I'll get there this year again! -Liz

    How did you find us?

Found you on Google when I was looking for home brew help. I was all geeked to find the forum about fermentation sometimes taking a while to start. That's actually why I was looking for help, because mine didn't start right away, in fact it took about 48 hours.

    Sup from Homestead Florida USA.

Hey, My dad used to make root beer years ago when I was a kid... there was some sort of extract. I am not sure how it's done now, but I remember it was really, really good! Enjoy your vacation...

    Hello from Michigan!

I'm happy to report that after just over 48 hours, my yeasties are happily doing their thing. It's funny how it can be totally quiet in there, then suddenly they are going crazy! This is fun - like a big biology experiment that you get to drink later.

    Greetings from Finland

Terve Jari, I'm a Finn-American who grew up in a part of MIchigan with a very large Finnish population. My great-grandparents were from Oulu! I just started my first batch on Monday and have found this forum very helpful. Happy brewing!

    Hello from Michigan!

Aww, you know I say that in jest! :D It's just that I drink/drank more when I'm in the UP over anywhere else I've been, even Germany! I love Da UP. It's one of my favorite places to be anywhere. (And yes, winter sports are fun too...)

Sure are a lot of michigan brewers around here...

I'm from Houghton - unfortunately no longer living up there! I think the long UP winters create a lot of drinking time... probably lots of brewing time as well! :D

    Hello from Michigan!

Thanks :) I'm a Yooper by birth (unfortunately not my current location) and there is not much else to do in the winter up there besides drink! :)

    Hello from Michigan!

I'm Liz and just started my first batch on Monday. I am waiting for fermentation and have read/re-read the big long "Fermentation can take 24-72 hours" thread! I don't think I'll have much to contribute since I have just started out but I'll be hanging out in the beginners forum for now. My...
