    60 gallon flanders red

Hi, I got a used 60 gallon port wine barrel and I want to age some flanders red in it. I want to know how many packs of wyeast roeselare should I pitch? They recommend not making a starter so I cannot grow from one pack. Do I really need like 12 packs since it's made for 5 gallon batches? Thanks

    Cranberry Imperial Stout

Hi, I plan on brewing an Imperial Stout (no recipe yet). I want to add cranberries to it once fermentation is done. The thing is I plan on aging it for 3-4 months, I want to know if I add the cranberries and let them for the whole 3-4 months or I just add them like 2 weeks before...

    Yeast starter using dry yeast??

I have a simple question, if I look at what mr. malty tells me, I would need 3 packs of dry yeast for 10 gallons of beer at 1.080, approx 550 billions cells, Would it hurt anything to make a starter with one pack to reach those 550 billions cells? I ask because I don't want to take 3 packs for...

Need something to get the vapor out

if I put a small fan at the end of the tube maybe it can pull enough air so the vapor don't fall back in the beer

Need something to get the vapor out

My kitchen fan doesn't work and anyway it would not be enough since i'm brewing 10 gallons and the fan is really small and just push the air back in trough a filter.

Need something to get the vapor out

Hi, it's my first brewing winter, I boil inside in a keg with a water heater element, normally I just boil with the door open to let the vapor go out, but now in quebec it's almost -10 C and it can get to -30C easily. Letting the door open for the whole boil/cooling is out of question ( I tried...

    Vanilla Guinness

soak vanilla beans in a little vodka for some time and add that to secondary fermentation, not sure about the quantity of vanilla beans, I think 1 bean is enough for 5 gallons if you dont want to overwhelm it.

My experience with slurry, no starter

Thanks, I think I'm gonna stick with my way of doing it. I have everything needed to make a starter so I will try one day, maybe harvest from a bottle or something like that.

My experience with slurry, no starter

I just want to know if my procedure is normal. I harvest slurry from the fermenter maybe since my last 10 batches, I did with some US-05, S-04, S-33 and T-58. I normaly harvest 1 mason jar when I transfer to secondary and put that in the beer fridge. When it's time to brew I just put some of the...
