I am brewing a Liberty Cream Ale from a Midwest Brewing Co. extract kit...and I was talking with my kids, then it happened....my first boil over.
I got it cleaned up in a hurry, but I was pissed to say the least...oh well...almost 50 gallons brewed and this was my first boil over!
Happy...
Let it rest...I am sure it will be fine! I pitched yeast one time at around 105 degrees...started bubbling in 36 hours...hit my FG...damn good ale...patience...young grasshoppah!
Anyone know where to buy a good Imperial IPA extract kit?
Midwest has some good looking ones, but top out at about 7.2% ABV...I am looking for at least 9-9.5%.
I would not boil the top off water if I were you...although I do not use tap water to top off in the primary...I always buy a few gallons of drinking water to be on the safe side...and it has worked for me so far. Cheers!
4 lbs. Light DME
3 lbs. Extra Light DME
1 lb. bag (split in 3rds) Belgian Caramunich Malt, Crystal Malt 40L, German Dark Munich Malt
1 1/4 oz. Perle Pellet Hops (bittering)
1/2 oz. Tettnang Whole Hops (flavoring)
1/2 oz. Saaz Whole Hops (flavoring)
1 cup priming sugar (bottling)
I did a 1 hour...
I just opened the first bottle of a clone of Rogue's Dead Guy Ale my wife and I bottled a couple weeks ago...and it is a "spitting image" of it...minus the spit I guess.
Great color...good head...flavorful...a great end to a long work week!
:mug:
I am brewing a honey wheat ale this weekend with 1 pound of pure clover honey in the recipe...if it is added to the boil, will I still be able to taste the flavor?
Did you get a good seal on the bottle caps of the bottles in question?
Did you stir to evenly distribute the sugar in the beer before bottling?
Those are the only two things that come to mind...
