    How long is too long

I dont think there is anything to worry about, as far. As i can tell, when the fg is 1.000 all the consumable sugar has been turned to alcohol. I think it also has to do with the type of yeast you used. I ised safale us5 and us4. Both are ale yeasts, and ive heard both are food to use in cider...

    How long is too long

I rackedy 2 batches last saturday. Same thing kinda taste like sour apple wine. But my fg is at 1.010, which is right where i wanted it to be. I didnt add the campden crush, cause im hopeing after i bottle it, it will have a bit of fizz and not be completly still. Not sure if i should pasturize...

    How long is too long

The initial fermentation temps were around 68 degrees, it didn't start getting warmer till about a week ago. I made a honey ginger coder that smells awesome. I used a starter on that one, and can tell from the action i got, that is the route to go. Thanx for the help!

    How long is too long

I have asked this question a couple time over the past couple days. I have 2 batches of cider brewing, and they have been in the primary's for roughly 8 weeks. Is leaving your brew in the primary for extended periods of time an issue, or will it just act like it would after racking it into the...

    Making hard cider

I have 2 six gallon batches in primary stage. Its been about 6 weeks for both batches. My question is, i won't be able to rack into tje secondarys until tje weekend, which i assume is long overdue. Is the length in the primary going to effect the cider overall???

    Making hard cider

Thats awesome, after reading (alot) in this forum is was considerably worried about the acid levels, and the possibility of it turning on me. Absolutely i will sanitize and bottle. I think though after sampling "Angry Orchards" cider brand, i am going to go with a still cider as opposed to...

    Making hard cider

If i bottle after i wait till it reaches its end result cal it be stored bottled without risk of turning into vinegar? I have 12 gallons, 2 different types of cider. But now im worried that it will turn before we can enjoy it. I had planned on bottling in regular cork wine bottles and storing it...

    Yeasties on steriods

I have never used Safale S-05, my cider is bubbling away now for almost 10 days. Is that normal for this strain of yeast? Its in a room where the temps are 64- 70 f. It has slowed down but still bubbles every couple of seconds. I started a batch last friday night with S-04. This time i made a...

    Fermented tea

Made 2, 1 gallon batches of "Teavana citrus blend" just to see what would happen. Added dextrose, yeast and had an OG of 1.070. I re racked it into 2 other containers, after the fermentation was finished, and sampled it along the way. It smells awesome and is very clear already. This stiff is...
