    thanks everyone for the feed back. I have read several books on the subject and I have brewed with a friend who is new at it also, but he has several successful brews. So I just need to give it another go with a good recipe. I just need to find a good recipe first !!

    thanks for the input !, win lose or draw I am going to keep at as I really enjoyed brewing the first batch. The simple kit taught me some stuff that I will takeaway from it. Namely keeping a brewing log !

    Exactly Insomniac, at times it has a malty smell and at other times it smells like a off sulphur smell

    Good morning Kapbrew13, it was a Pilsner kit made by Thomas Coopers. the yeast was part of the kit and I am afraid i dropped the ball and never recorded the yeast type.
