    Went to White Labs

If you're ever in San Diego I recommend White Labs Tasting Room. You can get flights of the same beer but with different yeast strains. Kind of hard to apply it to mead but i think its worth the trip just to see what yeasts are capable of. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Show us your Mead in a photo!!!

Traditional orange blossom from a local apiary in San Diego. Delicious, very light and floral and tastes best chilled I think! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Saw this floating in my mead

Saw several of these spiral looking white floaters in my mead. They are fairly rigid when you press on them. Mead tastes and smells fine. Im thinking its some kind of yeast byproduct. This is my first batch so I'm new to this. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Visiting White Labs

Hey everybody, I'm visiting White Labs in San Diego next weekend (just found out they are 15 minutes away). I figured I would ask if anyone has any questions they would want answered by a yeast expert or if you know of any strains i should try or ask about. I know they brew the same type of beer...

    How muck oxygen?

If you can get a stir bit for a drill that is the easiest way i think. I use one that is meant to stir paint in a 5 gallon bucket. That being said, that probably wont work if your primary is a carboy since the neck is too narrow. If you just shake it it will degas it but wont add oxygen since...

    Fermenting in secondary

This is my first batch so not too sure exactly how i like it. I did think i over sweetened a bit so fermentation starting again actually worked out for me. Thanks for the advice.

    Fermenting in secondary

I reached a month when my fermentation stopped. I took a gravity reading at 1.002 decided fermentation was over. I added potassium sorbate to stop the fermentation for sure then back sweetened to 1.04. I added a tsp and a half which was enough for 5 gallons (im doing four) and left it over 24...
