Commercial keg CO2 vs bottle CO2

I noticed on Boulevard Brewery site they list CO2 in bottles higher than in kegs. The kegs are more in line with the 'called for' CO2 of the style. For example, Doublewide IPA is 2.6 in kegs, 3.3 in bottles. Why the difference, and is this common among breweries? Bottled mine a few weeks ago...

Tasting bottled beer after one week: Legit practice or lame excuse to try it?

Update...bottle I tried at 8 days was pretty much what you'd expect. Yeasty, bitterness hadn't mellowed (even for an IPA), hardly carbed, etc. Pretty rough. Tried again at 14 days...still needs some carbonation and to 'come together', but the difference in the two bottles was significant. More...

Using the Brewers Friend yeast starter and pitching calc

Just did my fourth batch, so new to this, but I had very similar question a few weeks ago, and seemed like either decanting the first wort or just leaving it in would both work. I ended up just leaving my first one in, and fermentation went great. Given you are limited to the 2L flask, maybe...

Tasting bottled beer after one week: Legit practice or lame excuse to try it?

This post more for fun than anything, and to see varying responses. Got IPA in bottles (OG 1.070, FG 1.014) 8 days. Fairly proud of myself I didn't crack one open on day 7. My fourth batch, and first time that's happened. Had a bottling wand snafu, and a half gallon or so went to waste, so...

    SA Ruthless Rye IPA

No aficionado, but liked it. Not sure if you equate rye to 'peppery' but that's what I got. And I'm an IPA guy.

    Worst. IPA. Ever.

Grant's IPA from late 90s, but I think it was more English. Nowadays...NB Rampant (just something weird), tried to embrace Modus Hoperandi (like someone squeezed in some extra garlic or something).

To Beard or not Beard a HBT facial hair analysis poll

Haven't shaved in a month and got some fuzz. Seriously...could go Grizzly Adams in that time (sans bear), but WAF of 1. Happy wife, happy life...more uninterrupted brew days!

What would YOU do given you fermented in your bottling bucket?

Ha...I think a Mod changed it, as I think I had a more open ended 'What would YOU do given...' to evoke some 'hits', but that title pretty much sums it up. Wish the learning curve didn't include mistakes! Nothing this Boulevard Tank 7 can't take care of, though. ...or maybe I decided for some...

What would YOU do given you fermented in your bottling bucket?

I see a consensus forming, but like Jim's idea of just buying another bucket, too. LHBS 8 miles away.

What would YOU do given you fermented in your bottling bucket?

Brewed IPA a couple weeks ago (OG 1.068) and everything went as planned. Fell into the 'primary fermenter only' camp, and had wort sitting in primary for 12 days now. Added dry hops 3 days ago for anticipated bottling in 3 days (Sunday). Broke hydrometer and get new one tomorrow, but don't...

Yeast viability model and Wyeast smackpack swell time, viability question...

I used an online calculator to model a two-step yeast starter for a DIPA, OG 1.069. I have two packs of Wyeast 1056 two months old, which the model gave 55% viability. So that's what I used when designing the starter volumes and getting to where it says I need to be...390B cells or so. Now...I...

Thanks, man! That's what I got backing into the OG on calc, but wasn't sure if it'd be right or not. Dustin
