This is of course anecdotal. But I have the American Ale Works 180 RPM motor with a tombstone switch on my set up and it works fantastic. I have had it for a year or so and it chews through whatever I give it without fail (barley, wheat, rye). Can't relate to what you will put it through with...
Doubtful they aren't made to go that low and probably don't have a big enough condenser coil to achieve this without heavily modifying it. Also doubtful with 134a since that is well below its boiling point
(Edit) The second part of the above statement isn't entirely true. Spoke with a friend...
Something like a quick carb going from the dump or racking port. Should be able to agitate and add O2 when needed. You could always go back into the carb port since you wouldn't need it.
Mine wasn't a displacement issue it was just off. The scale seemed to be etched in the pot in the wrong place. In addition the scale itself was inaccurate as the error increased as volume increased.
I wasn't saying that the diptube, false bottom, void in TC or threaded fittings, probes...
FWIW... My SsBRewtech 20 Gallon kettles have the same problem but mine are off over 1 gallon at 10 ish gallons and almost 1.25 gallons at 20, but my mash tun is right on. I don't think this problem is unique to Spike. Like Augiedoggy said there are a lot of displacement variables that can...
When I have used it at the correct dilution it still is an issue though not nearly as bad as star san. If you want truly foam less Iodophor is prob the way you want to go.
I started a facebook users group for Spike Brewing. Trying to start a community where ideas like the above can be shared......and you know talk beer. Just search spike brewing on Facebook and its the first group to pop up, Cheers!!
I will second Auggie's take on the Kegco. There are several members in my club that have them and put them through their paces. No hiccups. I have a MM-3 and would likely have gotten the Kegco instead for the price difference (if I had know about it). And the Pro model esp with the heat...
I use mine for fly sparging just sitting right on the grain bed. Yeah its pricey. I haven't had a problem with grain plugging (but I recirculate without it for a second first) Is it likely any better than other ways (debatable) but I will say I have no problems with channeling that you have...
I can confirm that it holds sustained pressure without leaking just fine. Mine is currently been sitting at 37 degrees with about 9 PSI for a week while lagering. FWIW I really like everything about mine. The quality is tip top. And the removable lid is very handy for cleaning. :mug:
P.S...
