New Brewer -- What if I don't actually Lager my Lager?

Ok another noobie with a noobie question along these lines, what's the difference between a lager and a Pilsner? I thought a Pilsner is just a lager that hasn't been lagered. If that is the case (which now I'm not sure it is) can't u just ferment it and treat it like an ale to get a Pilsner? I...

Propane burner in garage - how much ventilation?

So im definitely no expert (just a red neck) but I every time I have brewed it's been in the garage. Garage door open all the way and most of the time the back door open too. I have also used other propane burners in the garage (mostly my flat top griddle, 4 burners on full 58000 btu) and I...

First time kegging, I guess I did it right!

I love the red bull cooler idea! I have alot of stuff in my garage and a small foot print would be great (my wife says I have to many hobbies!) As far as ur advice on the blow off valve, that makes sense, as long as I'm understanding u right. If the pressure in the keg is greater then what I...

First time kegging, I guess I did it right!

I forgot to mention, with the keg inside the fridge I don't have the O2 hooked up (my wife won't let me drill a hole in the fridge) but I have made sure to keep hooking up the O2 every so often. Also it was the blow off value on the reg not the one on the keg that was blowing.

First time kegging, I guess I did it right!

So im new to brewing and bought my first keg yesterday. I put a batch of cider into it (one of the pouch concentrate ones). I listened to the guy at the local home brew shop advice but wound up kinda "winging it". Really his advice was to set it to 20psi and let it sit for 3 days but i tried...

Thanx for the help u didn't know u gave!

Great advice! With my first batch I poured the wort back and forth between the brew pot and fermenter a few times. Of course this time I forgot! As far as the yeast, i used a smack pack 1099.... something or another (I have it written down in my book) so I didn't use any nutrient or make a...

Thanx for the help u didn't know u gave!

So thanx to everyone who has posted in the past about delayed beginning fermentation. This past Sunday I brewed my second batch of beer, an oatmeal stout. My first batch started bubbling in the air lock by the next morning. This batch didn't, nor that evening, not even the next day. Needless to...
