    Root beer Beer

Second attempt at the root beer. I made a small batch( about a gallon) and it didn't turn out so well. I just dumped it and started all over. I think my mistake was not fermenting out my base first and then adding the root beer extract - I am using just under a gallon of water, 2lbs of sugar...

    Root beer Beer

I just looked into that, the 2oz bottle is good for 4 gallons. I don't think it would be outrageously expensive.

    Root beer Beer

Has anyone tried to make this? There is someone that makes it in my area i guess but i have not been able to find it. I would just imagine an easy way would be to use rootbeer extract, sugar and yeast. Let ferment out and then maybe add lactose to sweeten this up and then prime and bottle as...

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

Mine has been in the secondary about 2 1/2 weeks. I tasted it the other day and it seems better than the last time I made this. I am bottling tonight ;)

    Entering a homebrew competition

I am entertaining the thought of entering a homebrew competition .(my first one) along with rubber banding my entry form to the brews I am going to submit, should I put my own label on the bottle, or do I just keep it plain? I am unclear on this.

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

2 1/2 gallon steep is no problem. That's what I have been doing and everything seems to turn out OK. The only time it didn't really was when I had a large grain bill, other than that, you should be golden.

    Slow carbonating

Thanks Juan, I have never made a brew that was this high in gravity and all around took this long. Thank you for your reply, it is appreciated.

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

D_ranged, I just made my second batch as well and its sitting in my secondary now for almost a week. I did use the Amarillo for both, 3oz in the boil and then another 1 for a week dry hop. Is that similar to your recipe?

Wow! OK then I will just try and be patient until these get to their full potential. Thank you for the reply. D

    Slow carbonating

I brewed a farmhouse that ended up taking close to 2 months to finish in the secondary.my OF was 1.080 FG was 1.005 so by my fuzzy math, this brew came in around 10%. It is pretty smooth and all and hides the alcohol too well but it has very light carbonation. I was afraid that I had bottled a...

How's it going D_ranged? I'm getting ready to try this again. The only issue I had with my last WIPA was that the crisp hop note faded after some time in the bottle. I love the Amarillo but am wanting to try the zombie dust clone which is similar to the gbh just uses lots of citra

    Fermentation stopped to soon?

Hammy, I bottled and am enjoying this apa. My farmhouse ale is just about done too( a month and a half in the secondary ) that'll teach me to use honey :) This brew has an fg of 1.010 which rocks and is giving me an abv of 9.3%

    Fermentation stopped to soon?

Yes, I did take an sg before I pitched and this brew is in at 5.3abv. I have never had a batch stop so fast and clear so quick- like in the matter of one weeks time, that's what was so curious to me. I put this in the secondary yesterday to clear and this thing is ready to go. Maybe I shouldn't...
