I'd just jump in with a 1 gallon kit. Make sure you get a hydrometer as well! You will always want one.
The purpose of the kit in my mind is to get everything you need and get you started. Once you've done the process a few times you will know what you need and how much you want to be making.
My wife loves lemencello and I've made quite a few batches of skeeter pee that I really enjoy. It is a great base recipe to start with and modify.
With the kick a good skeeter pee has, I'm curious why you would kick it up a notch.
How is the flavor at this point? would you post your recipe...
I'd be tempted to try it on one gallon first, I have been using the skeeter pee recipe as a base and modifying from there. I find a one gallon batch a good way to experiment. Not as much to drink if its only ok.. or worse.
Making a hard Arnold Palmer for my wife was one of the first things I...
Are you saying start with the lemonade and dme? Then add the tea flavor at the end. I've made several hard lemonades and enjoyed them. Got a 5 gal batch going right now I could flavor some of it with tea. Well its a lemon-limeade.
I haven't used DME yet though I've got some "in stock" now to...
I hate the thought of adding chemicals. Has one tablet per 5 gallons worked though?
I've been cold crashing it to stop fermentation. Then it gets drunk to quick to worry about bottle bombs. As I start making larger batches, I'll have to worry.
I'm totally new to this. I love cooking and do most of that from scratch. I'm always improvising and making things my own. I wanted to do the same with what I drink.
I've made a couple hard ciders and started making Otis' Hard Mt Dew. I didn't finish because once the first step was done it...
