    A couple of fermenter questions!

Thanks for the advice on the fermentation chamber. I just finished wiring the STC-1000 temp controller. Lots of good info here and wiring was relatively simple. I was still considering the heating problem in my garage when I saw an idea at Costco. I think I'm going to insulate my garage door...

    A couple of fermenter questions!

I'm in the process of building a fermentation chamber using a Kenmore 18 cu in refrigerator and a STC-1000 temp controller. I have a couple of questions to verify for the build: 1. I was planning on using a 100W reptile infrared bulb for heat. Would this be adequate for an unheated garage in...

Micros and 3 day bulk fermenting

H-ost, I'm guessing that they're simply transferring from the primary to the keg while an active fermentation is going on. Most of yeast might still be in suspension and yeast sediments in kegs. It must be a hassle to clean these kegs out afterwards! Still, it sounds cool and must work well...

    Kegs at scrap yard

lex 990, By the level of corrosion on the outside of these kegs, they were stored or contained corrosives and possibly other toxic substances. I would stay away from these, don't salvage posts, nothing! DocDave BTW Isurf, how are things on the island! I went to UTMB in the early ninetys!

    Kona Brewing

I guess I'm making in fun of craft brewers who appear to be adopting the mentality of the big guys. It's always good to remember where you came from! All fun aside, Koko Brown is a good beer and I wish them well. Just don't forget about us homebrewers that get excited about visiting and talking...

    Kona Brewing

I had a chance to visit the big island of Hawaii and tried Kona Brewing's Koko Brown. I went to visit the brewery there and talked with the guy filling growlers. He was cool (a homebrewer) but when I asked about the hops in this beer, he acted like it was a matter of national security! I left...

    Dents in SS kegs

Thanks for the car jack idea. If it doesn,t work, I think I will use a heavy ball peen and some car body tools since there are really no creases formed in the dents. I don't want to get new kegs because I don't want to concede to thieving scumbags. BTW, if there any Canadian attorney brewers in...

    Dents in SS kegs

outside92129 and jtsims21, The dents are fairly large since the thieves abused them trying to remove the valve. I want to use them based on principle of the thing, I got them back! When I was robbed, I called all the scrapyards where they turned up. The police caught one of them but no word...

    Dents in SS kegs

Guys, I finally retrieved some beer kegs that had been stolen from garage. The thieves were rough on them when they tried to sell them at the scrapyard. I cut the top off 2 kegs to make keggles. Since my knowledge of metallurgy is limited, I want to know if can fix the dents on these kegs. Is...
