    reallllly on the fence !!!!

I would go with the kegging option. I nearly quit brewing because of bottling. For me it takes about 6 hours of brewing to make a 5 gallon batch. It takes about 4 hours of messing around to bottle. (at least for me) After realizing how easy it was to get a batch kegged, and that you never...

    Yeast Starter Parts

Alright, I'm curious about the different parts of my yeast starter. I'm thinking that it's like this: 1 - wort 2 - yeast 3 - sediment from malt extract Is that correct?

    chinook ipa....dry hop?

I wouldn't use more than 2 ounces. Using chinook is fine too.

    Secondary Fermentation or Primary only?

After years of using secondary to dry hop I've just started doing this, and it's the way to go for sure!

    Wow--what a difference aeration makes!

I've got one and stopped using it. I stopped using it because I would put it in, and then turn on the pump and it would fill the head space in the carboy within a minute with foam, and then I'd have to wait 5 or 10 minutes for that to die down. Then it would repeat, so to aerate 5 minutes would...

    Fermentation Weirdness

I've used Pacman at 50 before without problems. And it was the only yeast I had laying around to throw in.

    Fermentation Weirdness

So, I just built a single tier brew stand. I treated myself to a hopback and was really excited about it. As my batch, I decided to cast off reason, and max out the system (in terms of grain and hops used). I did an Avery Maharaja Clone. While I started off trying to brew a 5 gallon batch, I...

Which batch to use for 1st keg?

Yeah, don't listen to me, listen to Krik, that sounds like a better plan.

Which batch to use for 1st keg?

Well if you're going to bottle... When I had a single/double keg setup and in your situation, I would bottle some of both batches, then keg the rest of one, and let the other one sit in secondary. Then you have bottles of both for later/taking somewhere, and you'll get to experience both beers...

Which batch to use for 1st keg?

I usually notice how much better a beer tastes after a few weeks of carbonation. But rarely have I had a beer that is undrinkable until it ages some. Here's what I would do/think. If I knew my family wanted a pale ale, I would expect them to be happier with a green tasting pale ale, than a...
