curious if anyone has ever co pitched these in a saison? Thought the tropical fruit notes of 644 would be a nice addition without pitching true brett. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I will order some of the descaling liquid. Glad to hear it want affect the taste in the beer. I am one brew shy of the deep clean cycle so does it matter if I do another brew before I run the descaling liquid and deep clean?
Thanks again
Hello! This has been a great resource for me in the past but i made a big error in my last brew and was curious if anyone had ever done this? I accidentally used tap water in the reservoir without thinking so my water would've been 50 50 or so RO vs tap water. The water in town is pretty hard...
Thanks for your reply ! I plan to leave them at least till Sunday then cold crash before transfer so that will be close to a week. Was I correct that the foam is from fermenting under pressure and isn't the Krausenn layer?
Thank you ! I'm going to get a ball lock keg so I can dry hop in the keg in the future. If it doesn't have the aroma I'm looking for I think I have spare citra hops in the freezer that I will put in the serving keg as well as this will probably be the last time I use
it.
So today I went to add my dry hops (day 10) and there was quite a bit of foam still. I've read this can be due to fermenting under pressure and not necesarrily mean that it's still active fermentation. My question is will this foam affect the dry hop? I sanitized a spoon and pushed them down...
Thanks! The serving keg that comes with the pico only has a tiny hole but I am gonna order one of those when I order the pro serving keg. That looks like a great solution.
I am in the process of looking at upgrading to the pico pro serving keg but was curious if you guys have had success dry hopping with the included pico c keg? Didn't know if that was the best approach or if I should dry hop before transferring like the manual states?
Thanks again
Thank you for your quick reply. I actually only pitched a half teaspoonful of yeast this time which was part of the reason I was concerned with the temp drop. Most everyone here has stated that's plenty so I'm sure it will be fine. I've moved it now and it's around 64 on the temp decal so...
Hello! I just completed my second pico batch last night and after reading this forum and the Facebook group I gathered I only needed a half teaspoon of 05 yeast and needed to aerate well. I have 2 concerns. After a vigorous shaking to aerate the wort was very foamy. I went ahead and pitched ont...
After reading over all the reviews here in the thread I decided to pull the trigger on the kickstarter campaign. I have decided I may go ahead and buy the pico 1.75 L keg as well since I could use it when my pico arrives in September. My question is how well does the mini co2 regulator and...
Hello Guys, I have been browsing through this forum deciding on whether or not to pull the trigger on the new picobrew c kickstarter campaign. I started this obsession right when my first child was born last year and as you can imagine do not have much time to brew and feel this would fill the...
Thanks for the feedback guys. To be honest I'm not sure what my boil off is. I've only done 1 brew and didn't take any notes which was pretty dumb on my part. It was an extract kit and I just topped off in the fermentor. I used 1.25 gallons per hr because that was the default value in the simple...
Thanks guys that is actually very helpful advice. I believe I will mash with a smaller volume and sparge. I reduced the recipe a bit as to get 2.75 gallons of beer into fermenter leaving me close to 2.5 with trubb loss. 4.45 lbs of grain and I wasnt sure what my book off rate was just having...
