    Thermocouple problem...

The picture of your PID looks like mine (AUBER SYL-2352) and I am also using an RTD-vs-Thermocouple. If you are using the same PID, then connect the red wires to lugs 3 and 4 (doesn't matter which one goes where) and the white wire to the lug 5. Cheers! -Dixon

    Electric kettle with PID control

I see now...I guess I didn't see the input power from the wall to B and C of the bus. Thanks for helping me understand. -Dixon

    Electric kettle with PID control

I am a little confused by the schematic. I thought the use of an SSR was because most PID's can not handle the current from a heating element. It looks to me like the PID is powering the element through terminals 9 and 10, so wouldn't the PID be taking the full load from the element still...

For All of You Who Have Made Their Own Keggles...

I've had the same question for a while... I'm pretty sure I remember Yuri mentioning saving his for an upcoming project, but never heard anything afterwards. -Dixon

    PID vs on/off temp controllers

Wow, those QDs are a lot cheaper than what I've been able to find, thanks. I have been told to get a type "T" thermocouple. Does it matter what type I use or is it just based on how I want it mounted? Anyone know any places to buy march pumps cheap by chance? My wife's gonna hate me by...

    PID vs on/off temp controllers

Thanks a lot for the quick replies guys. I just finished building my heat exchanger, can't wait to get that PID!! (and SSR, and silicone tubing, and QD's, and...sheesh) Cheers, -Dixon :mug:

    PID vs on/off temp controllers

I am in the market for a temp controller to be used in a RIMS/HERMS system. I'm going to use a water heater element to heat water surrounding a HERMS coil. I'm wondering what type of controller would best fit my use. I don't know if I need the thing to do math I won't even attempt when I...

    Over Carbed Keg

I purged the head space and turned the reg down to about 2-4psi and it poured perfectly. Thanks for the advice BierMuncher!

    Over Carbed Keg

I just sanitized a spoon and tried giving the beer a slow stir to release some carbonation...and WOW! A word to the wise who try this, don't stir too much, The amount of carbonation must be through the roof cause it just about over flowed and made a huge mess. Shoop: I'm using about the same...

    Over Carbed Keg

I just kegged my 1st brew (an ESB) the other day. I let it chill to about 34-36 dergrees and did the 30 psi shake thing for a day. I set the pressure to about 12 psi for the past couple of days to let the carbonation settle and get to where I can drink it soon. I am under the understanding that...

    Wort Chillers

I was wondering what type of cleaning procedures various chillers need. Someone earlier in this thread mentioned back flushing, I have even heard of people storing CFCs with sanitizer in them. I'm curious if you flush them out how you would prevent nastiness from growing in the damp, dark hoses...

    Flux Removal

I just made a copper sparge arm and tried boiling it in some water for the last hour in an effort to break-up the flux. Unfortunately it didn't work as I had planned. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks! -Dixon

    Time/ingredient conversions

Thanks for the quick responses. I used http //hbd.org/cgi-bin/recipator/recipator and balanced everything out as best as I could. We'll see how it turns out in a couple months. Thanks again! -Dixon
