Since it's floating at the top I could probably fish it out of there. I think I may just leave it in. By the time I go to bottle the hops would be in there for 15-16 days. Based on what I've seen that shouldn't be too bad. But this is a wheat and they are Amarillo hops. I may pull them out...
New question: I hopped with pellets and the bag has been floating on the surface the whole time. Should the bag sink? Do I need to push it down? Does it make any difference?
It has been suggested on here that 7-10 days is ideal for a decent dry hop. I'm on day 10 today but due to "stuff" going on I may not have time to rack this batch today. What is the result of the beer if I wait to rack and what is the LONGEST I can go before I need to take the brew off the hops...
I was also wondering how long on the dry hopping and worried about grassiness. I' dry hopping pellets for the first to
E and wasn't told how long to do so. Don't mean to butt in on the original poster but it saves the step of a repeat thread
I'm pretty sure that the fermentation was done. I kept a pretty close eye on the airlock and I didn't see bubbling for two days. I was surprised as I was expecting it to take at least a week.
There is 5 gallons of beer in there. Just under really after a bit of evaporation and some taken out for hydro testing.
I'm impressed that you can make 5 gallons for around $12. And I will be keeping a log as soon as I break away from kit brewing, which will be pretty soon. Maybe even my...
I think I'm in a 6 gallon carboy. It was gifted to me and I made the mistake of assuming it was a 5 gallon. Don't have any CO2 to put in there. I tried to attach a photo for you to see.
I did taste it today. It tastes good minus the carbonation.
Brewing 5 gallons of wort should, in theory, be able to fill a 5 gallon carboy. With a 6.5 how much, if any, do you need to alter a standard 5 gallon recipe in order to fill the carboy closer to the stopper?
Thanks for all of the tips, links, and well wishes. I've been asking a few more questions on the boards and feel that I'm asking too much. But if you don't ask you don't know. Thanks again all.
I brewed this past Monday and racked to secondary today on the suggestion of the kit (remember this is my first time). I read through my other post on secondaries the benefits & drawbacks. I will probably only move to a secondary only if I decide to brew with a dry hop next time. I guess I...
