    Paint smell in Pumpkin Ale

I haven't tasted it yet. I will when I get home from work. I used spices and real pumpkin.

    Paint smell in Pumpkin Ale

Howdy, So back in October, I brewed a Smashing Pumpkin Ale from NB. Brew day, the beer smelled and tasted awesome. A few weeks later I checked on it again, still great smell and taste from when I checked the Hydrometer. But now, as I think about bottling, I have this weird paint smell. Is it...

    FG concern...

Yeah. That part confuses me too. The FG should still be at 1.003 even with the cider according to the kit. The kit said the cider was a must to add, so I'm assuming that would make it 1.003. However, the kit ALSO says to to it off with a half gallon of water to bring it up to a full 5 gallons. I...

    FG concern...

Yes. That also bothers me a bit still too. It wasn't a saison. I think it's an ale technically? But the recipe called for the 3 gallons of cider and it still said I would end up with a 1.003 FG...

    FG concern...

I added the cider into the fermenter instead of water. So I filled about 3 gallons of it on brew day. Sounds like I should most likely be fine, but be safe just in case. I have them in boxes and covered to minimize damage. 3 days and so far so good... Thanks for the help guys.

    FG concern...

Awesome! Thanks. It's only been about 2 days, but so far so good...

    FG concern...

Yes, as I stated, I already bottled in hopes of it being done in time for the anniversary... Should I be prepping for the worse here? When will I know if I'm in the clear?

    FG concern...

Hey everybody, I recently made the Austin Homebrew Apple Peeler for my anniversary with my girlfriend. I put it into the primary on 9/19, and the secondary on 10/8. I didn't have a hydrometer to find an OG, and just for fun tonight I checked it at it was at 1.010. The kit says it should be...

Help with making Apple Ale sweeter?

Hey guys, A week ago or so I made an Apple Ale with using real apple cider instead of water to fill up the primary. I used the Austin Homebrew Apple Peeler kit. I have read online that this kit will become not sweet (as I would expect) and it will become tart. My girlfriend and I made this...

secondary at room temp after fermenting at 60?

So I made a Rogue hazelnut brown nectar clone and I had it fermenting at 60 degrees (as recommended from the kit) in a swamp cooler. It's done fermenting, so if I rack to a secondary should I keep it at 60? Or is it okay to keep it at room temp until I have enough bottles to bottle it? Or should...

    Apple Ale?

Hey guys, I recently ordered the Austin Home Brew Apple Peeler kit to make with my girlfriend. It says we need 3 gallons of unpasteurized juice/cider to make it. I am looking to buy some from the cider mill here in mid-Michigan, but I'm wondering if there is any other brand I can use that...

    FG too high?

I e-mailed NB, and they said my FG was about right, so I just racked it to the secondary and I'm going to let it condition for a couple weeks. Maybe I'll get lucky and knock off a couple more points...

    FG too high?

I made a starter originally as well with the Wyeast 1098.

    FG too high?

Well I pitched it at about 75 degrees which I know was a bit too high. It fermented at 68 degrees. I used the northern brewer buffalo sweat clone recipe. It was a partial mash. I put it into the secondary today. Do I need to make another starter?
