    First BIAB batch, stuck ferment?

Came out sweet. Pretty sure my mash temp has something to do with that. Brewed last night again, a pale ale this time. Ezboil is not good for BIAB mashing, at least not on my kettle. Depending on where the temp probe is, the controller will overheat mash. I found temps in the 160's and higher...

    First BIAB batch, stuck ferment?

It finishes dicetyl rest today. The flavors I was getting but not looking for were likely from a large amount of yeast still in suspension.

    Basement Brewery Suggestions.

while the thought may make you shudder at first, i use these plastic jugs that kitty litter come in for grain storage. they hold 10 lbs of grain, are air-tight and have a nice handle. got the idea from a brewer in my neighborhood. after using all the litter i just wash and sanitize really well...

    First BIAB batch, stuck ferment?

all jokes aside i'm not a fan of belgians or whitbiers so although i'm sure your recipe is awesome, it will never grace my equipment. as for the brown ale, i plan to rack it into secondary tonight. need to finish off whats left of casper milquetoast (milk stout) before i can crash and keg it...

    Brew Control Panel Help

Yeah, bought a cheapie 2 gpm DC pump off eBay for like $15. Had the transformer laying around from another project. SSR is on heat sink. Sink is screwed to back of box, SSR is screwed to heat sink with some thermal paste between them. Temp inside panel was only 82°f after an hour boil so I...

    Brew Control Panel Help

To give you an idea, this is my panel. I have yet to run conduit for some things but it's functional. The little box is a square D bi pole 30 Amp on/off switch for main power (so I don't have to shut off the breaker). Inside is terminal block, my SSR and a DC transformer to run my pump. Mounted...

    Brew Control Panel Help

50 amp allows for expansion. You can run a 5500 and a few pumps and controller on 30, I am. You will need a probe with any closed loop feedback controller. I like the ezboil because it is programmed for brewing. You have mash mode and boil mode, just set the timers and temps and brew. For $46 it...

    Brew Control Panel Help

PID just means proportional-integral-derivitive controller, it's an algorithm used to learn how the wort reacts to being heated to avoid overshooting temps. The ezboil will suit your needs, I use one and it's great. Yes you will need a probe. I also recommend a 50 amp gfci breaker to run this...

    First BIAB batch, stuck ferment?

SG is 1.013, right where the wort app calculated it would finish. Never had a beer finish this quickly, this cold with this small of a krausen but I'll take it! Flavor is not quiet what I was looking for but still tasty.

    First BIAB batch, stuck ferment?

Um... It's a brown ale. No wheat. No orange peels. Just 2 row pale malt and some specialty grains for color and flavor...
