New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I use the Fermonster and have made my lid with the proper ball lock connections to pressure transfer with the floating dip tube. When I transfer from the fermonster to my keg, I see A LOT of tiny bubbles in the line. My transfer is very slow, 30 minutes to get 5 gallons in the keg. I also have...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I just brewed 10 gallons which I whirl-pooled at 155 for 45 minutes with 8 ounces of Galaxy. Used A24 yeast. Split into two fermonsters with 5 gallons each. One will get 5 ounces of Galaxy for the dryhop, the other I want to try something different. I have the following 4 hops available. Hull...

    Need help starting LoDo

So I did my first LODO brew this weekend. I used the yeast scavenging method to remove the oxygen from my strike water and my sparge water. I have an electric three vessel HERMS system. I had 13 gallons of strike water which I heated in the boil kettle so I could under-let the mash. I used 26...

    Need help starting LoDo

Thank you for the great information on the yeast process. So for the Brewtan B. I have no copper in my system at all, except for the copper immersion chiller. So if i use the yeast scavenging method, do I need Brewtan B in my mash water, or just in my boil kettle? Dennis

    Need help starting LoDo

Thanks for the quick response and great information. One more question. When they say Prepare a solution of dextrose and a dry bread yeast at a rate of twice your batch volume in grams (i.e. 5 * 2 = 10 grams each of dry bread yeast and dextrose) Is the batch volume the volume of water I have for...

    Need help starting LoDo

So when using the Yeast Oxygen Scavenging method, do you just add the bread yeast and dextrose to some water in a jar and mix, then add to the mash and strike water? Or do you just at them separately to your mash and strike water and stir gently? If I understand correctly, you need to do this 3...

    Need help starting LoDo

I am about to do my first LODO brew. I have a question on using Brewtan B. My plan is to boil my strike water for 5 minutes. Add Brewtan B at beginning of the 5 minute boil. I then will cool to my strike water temp with a copper immersion chiller. Once I get to my strike temp I will add all...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Great information. Thank you for the quick response. What do you use for an airlock or blow off with this type of set up? All I currently have is the gas in and liquid out ball lock fittings on my lid. Do you run a hose off the gas fitting into a container of star san, or?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I have a couple of questions for those using Fermonsters. 1. Do you start your fermentation with the floating dip tube installed or do you have a different cap that you start with and add your floating dip tube cap later? 2. What is the best method, or process to add dry hops without introducing...
