    So... KegConnection just bought homebrewsupply...

They announced on their podcast last week that they sold the website to MoreBeer and we’re getting out of the ingredients business.

    Rigid brewbag

Did you get the 400 micron recommended for recirculating? I believe there standard fabric bag is 210 micron and is more pliable and feels more like fabric. I got a new 400 micron bag and it can pretty much stand up on its own. I haven’t had any issues really with mine. The lid certainly...

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

I’ve used the sight glass and purged with CO2 like pictured and confirm if you use too much pressure you get hop powder everywhere and stuck in the PRV, sometimes making it hard to get it to get reseated. I like the idea of letting the CO2 pass through the hops from fermentation but think the...

    BIAB & Steam Condenser

Now that my water goes to a drain I don’t pay much attention. I am using the 7gal/hr nozzle but have high pressure. When I did the initial tests I believe I was producing around 9-11gal. I’m not sure what nozzle Bobby sells with the steam slayer (I sourced parts from McMaster Carr) but you...

    BIAB & Steam Condenser

I’m running a condenser on my 15g kettle BIAB setup in my basement and love it. Steam is very minimal during the mash, an went from boiling at around 85% to 25-30% power (240v). Only issue I had initially was running the condensate to a bucket which really stunk up the house. I ended up...

Yeah, I forgot about the NorCal yeast brinks people were using. I'll give this a go tonight.

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

I was hoping for some advice on a dry hop situation. Last night I dry hopped 6oz into a 5gal batch after dropping yeast. As I poured in the hops I saw them all float down and settle in my sight glass. I was wondering if anyone has hooked up CO2 to the dump valve and push a few psi to...

    Brewie

I’ve just been brewing. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I’ve had no issues with my Brewie +. I have around 15-20 batches in. I feel a lot better with all the repair guides out there that I can keep mine rolling. I alternate brews between this and my electric biab set up. I use RV...

Help me decide between Spike CF10 and SSBrewtech Unitank

Same, crashing mine to 34f then 32f for the last 12 hrs using a diy chiller

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. They put a lot of marketing into the flex. My opinion, those shopping fermenters in the Flex and especially Flex Plus price range will just go with a conical.

I heard from what I would consider a reliable source that their Black Friday is featuring the Flex....at least on the fermenter side of their products. We shall see I suppose.

I can hit 31.5 with my diy glycol setup. Lowest I have got it was 31f with glycol set to 24f. I usually run it T 34f for 12hrs then 32f for the last 12hrs....happen to be crashing a batch (ambient is 70f)

SHOW OFF: Basement Brewery cleaning sinks

I’ve been happy with this setup. I added an additional hose bib connection (cold line) for my chiller and added a Y with a QD so I can run my steam condenser and chiller while keeping my sink free. I also added a QD to the faucet so I can run hot water for cleaning to my kettle. This has made...
