Turning Coopers into a real lager

Thanks everyone for the info. According to the link posted above I need 2 packs of 34/70

Turning Coopers into a real lager

I’m actually considering using the “Morgan’s Canadian light” kit instead of a coopers. Problem is with both of these kits it contains an ale yeast so I will switch it out for W34/70 (previously written W40/70 was a typo). I’m not looking create a somewhat light beer like coors not something with...

Turning Coopers into a real lager

That makes sense. Good info. After more research I’m thinking of using W40/70 yeast now. So I think I will mix my wort with 1kg of dextrose only at normal temps of 22C then allow temp to drop to about 15C. Once temp is dropped I will pitch my yeast. I tried using the calculator but it’s a little...

Turning Coopers into a real lager

Thanks for the info, once I go to room temp to carbonate should I go back to cold storage if I am leaving in the bottle for 2-3 mo this? Also, I’ve been looking more into the diacetyl rest and believe I should do that once fermentation slows after ~5 days then leave at room temp for 2-3 days...

    Creating a coopers true lager

I agree. Which is why I wrote out my procedure and switched out the ale yeast in the kit for a lager yeast. I was looking for some feedback on my plan

    Creating a coopers true lager

Hello Everyone I plan to take on a project and attempt to turn a “Coopers Original Series Lager” kit in to a real lager. I know this may get me laughed out of the forum but I enjoy American light beers during the summer such as Coors Light and bud light so I hope to create something along those...

    Secondary fermentation - Coopers/Morgan’s

Yes I use 1kg of dextrose. My thoughts were it’s a result of using the LME cans. Maybe it’s time I up my game and attempt a lager

    Secondary fermentation - Coopers/Morgan’s

I just go by the stick on crystal thermometer that is on the side of my primary.

    Secondary fermentation - Coopers/Morgan’s

What temp do you recommend? The coopers kit said 20-25C on the instructions

    Secondary fermentation - Coopers/Morgan’s

    1. I keep my primary at a constant temp of 22C while priming. I don’t use a belt or anything but it doesn’t change. 3. Can I use a wine filter? I thought I read somewhere that if I use a wine filter it will remove the left over yeast and my bottles would not prime ?

    Secondary fermentation - Coopers/Morgan’s

1.) The “twang” I’m referring to is the yeasty/5-6% beer taste that comes along with a Homebrewed 3-4% light beer. Many people who brew heavier beers do not mind this but I’m attempting to create a light beer with little after taste 2.) I don’t syphon off the sediment to my bottling bucket and...

    Secondary fermentation - Coopers/Morgan’s

I regularly make canned homebrew kits from coopers and Morgan’s, mainly just light beers. I usually leave in a primary for 7-14 days then batch prime and bottle then sit for a month. I’m wondering if it will improve the taste of my beer if I rack to a secondary, after primary fermentation is...

Mangrove Jack Cider fermenting like crazy

I recently put on a batch of Mangrove Jacks Apple cider. I used everything in the kit and 1kg of corn sugar as it calls for. OG of 1048. After 4 days it is still bubbling like CRAZY, more so than any other brew I’ve ever seen. The instructions say it should only take a week so my question is...
