Where to get a full all grain set up package?

It all depends on how much your friend wants to spend, and if he wants something that he can grow into. You can spend anywhere from $250 to $7,500+ on an all grain system. Higher gravity beers need a lot of grain for a 5 gallon batch if you want beers in the 10% abv range you will need at least...

    Fiddlers Green Wheat

So brewed fiddler Green Wheat this weekend, it went perfect all numbers I hit were spot on except the gravity. It was a bit higher then I had expected, not a big deal. It's in the temp controlled freezer bubbling away as if the cavalry just stole its Stetson..... Thanks all for the help...

    Yeast starter foaming

Not that I think any things wrong with the starter I made, I just think this was a cool thing to wake up too this morning. I made my starter with wyeast 1010 smack pack 2 cups of water to 1/2 cup DME. Put 1/2 teaspoon of diammonium phosphate, spring cell, and magnesium sulphate in there. Boiled...

    Help With Brew Setup

I started brewing a couple years ago. It takes a bit of time you add here add there, sell something to upgrade something.... It's a healthy process, and the beer wins in the end... Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Help With Brew Setup

If you want gravity above 6.5% or above for 10 gallon batches I would recommend at least have a Bigger mash tun than 10 gallon. I do 5 gallon batches and have a 15 gallon mash tun. 10 gallons will hold roughly around 24 lbs of grain or so, a 15 gallon would be better, if your running a HERMS...

Anyone know if there's a brew club in Hope Mills NC. I've been brewing a couple years now and kind of curious to see how other people brew. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Fiddlers Green Wheat

I have about 2lbs of rice hulls that I'm putting into the mash so hopefully that will give me a good enough grain bed to not get a stuck line or sparge. I run a chugger pump and it seems to do a great job of keeping everything moving, the only time I really start to have issues is when I sparge...

    Fiddlers Green Wheat

So I've been brewing for a couple years now and I've made my own recipes since I've started. Some have come out like turpentine and others pretty dam good. I'm doing a recipe for my unit in the military and using ingredients from every single conflict that it has been in. I run a HERMS system...

    final gravity a touch high...

You could try bringing it up to 73 degrees for a few days before you bottle. If I'm not mistaken the temp range is from 63-73 degrees.

So I came back from a year long tour in Afghanistan brewing all grain my own recipe. since then i've moved on to a HERMS system about three months ago. While in the...

    Green krausen in primary (algae?)

I cleaned with PBW and then sanitizer mixed in with he water. I used hop pellets in bags as well as a stainless steel screen tube on the bottom of my boiler. I chill using a counter flow that I run boiled water through for around 10 minutes before I brew to kill any left over bacteria. I've seen...

    Green krausen in primary (algae?)

I brewed my first wheat beer about a week ago using wyeast Belgian Ardennes with a yeast starter and my own recipe. I kept the primary in a temperature controlled at 70+- 1* F. The gravity was 1.061 and it fermented heavily for the first 3 days or so. Everything was fine until I checked on the...
