Using vial tubes for washed yeast for storage

I've had great results with smaller tubes/vials. The standard White Labs Vials are only 35mL total, so if the storage container I have available is smaller, I just store/pitch two of them. This detail may not be ideal for big beers or lagers, but you will most likely use a starter for yeast...

What would you send to UPS or some other company you are mad at?

It is hard to describe since there are a bunch, but it is a thin sound, somewhat long, and rather appealing. And I hear it is quite common in tropical regions.

    What are you drinking now?

Hard cider spiced to high heaven, with home soaked bourbon added. What's with all the babies on the way? SWMBO is gonna go into labor any day now. Maybe this homebrew really is an aphrodisiac?

Late addition of LME or DME

Color and caramel. From my understanding, the longer you boil, the darker it gets. I can see it being like hops in that flavor and aroma show up differently relative to boil time. You boil to emulsify hop oils, that's why you can make no boil batches with the right ingredients.

Bad Judgment Ale - Swollen Extract Can

*DISCLAIMER* I am on occasion an idiot. IF you decide to stupidly brew with unknown materials and end up sick or dead because you tried it, I now advise against it. So there. I did the research and tried it anyways, I brewed a 6 gallon batch with a swollen can of what was supposed to be a...

One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Brew Gear

Due to my reputation for fixing and modifying everything i get my hands on I was given a Fluval 105 canister aquarium filter. First I was thinking of just using the tubing, but of course-"How can I use this with my brewing?" I decided to kerfuddle the impeller pump and hose assembly into a...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

American Honey Cream Ale Tomorrow-My first 5 Gallon Batch! Willamette and Cascade hops instead of Saaz or Mt Hood as many prefer. May use second runnings for an American Pale Ale-related beer with my new favorite-Summit! I'll steep some crystal 60 if i try it. Also my first time using...

    Favorite Brewing Music

Bringing up an old thread, but I thought it appropriate due to the heat and humidity showing up here in the South! Brewing music is my exciting and anticipation music, i.e. Hells Bells, old Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Five Finger Death Punch has a few good ones also. Drinking music is...

    Yeast Harvesting: A Novel Approach?

I'm using this method right now. Just jumped up my Sierra Nevada stock to use in an upcoming APA batch. Thanks for the idea!

    How did you find us?

Wow, I was wondering how many people were into brewing, so I just typed "homebrew" into GooCh and this was in the suggestions. Really is like my wife - i type in one letter and instantly there are six suggestions to what they think i should do!:p

    New member, young brewer

New to the forums and somewhat new to the art, celebrating the AL HB9 2013 legislation. I have been at it for a few years, with varied results from "I wish I wrote that down" to "wow-there is something worse that olde english" but the love is there just the same. Here's to the Wiregrass!

    Alabama Homebrew Legislation 2013

I'm with you on the unfair advantage, but that does not mean we have not been learning even without our most hallowed brew days! There is no substitute for real experience, even if BYO and forums can educate you...I would like to see how the last state to catch on stacks up against some gutsy...
