I ended up installing a hose clamp on the dip tube directly above the FB. The hose clamp puts slight downward pressure on the FB and prevents it from lifting up in my system. I've only brewed a handful of times since implementing this change, but haven't had grain under my FB since.
i've used coffee before by racking onto grounds. Worked well, but be cautious on the amount and the duration of time you leave the beer on the coffee. 3oz sounds right for 5gal, i wouldn't go any more unless you like a little beer with your coffee.
Also i would only leave the beer on the...
Sams club had cherries on sale. So i grabbed 6lbs for $14. I sliced them in half and kept the pits in them. Then stuck them in the freezer.
Anyone ever tried real cherries in secondary? Did you do something similar or should i throw them in the blender and make a puree? Will the freezer...
Came across a deal on the interweb with free shipping.

If your buying a raw keg bring a screw driver with you and stick it through the valve at the top, if you hear a hiss out if you get sprayed with stale beer it was holding pressure so buy it, if not dont.
I a have something similar setup. I have a netduino that listens on a socket for Ajax requests from a simple HTML page. Then it reads 4 1-wire sensors and returns json. Works pretty well thus far.
To the OP. Sorry to be negative but I see a couple of major hurdles in your plan. 1market...
ok thanks for the input. I planned on brewing a cream ale this weekend so ill take 1-2 quarts off that wort and use it as a starter wort for my sour beers. When i do get around to brewing the sour ill probably pitch the dregs with a pack of Wyeast 3763 Roeselare to make sure i have enough...
how long do you think they will keep in a growler?
i have a odell saboteur, Boulevard saison-brett, Rodenbach Grand Cru, and another flanders red who's name escapes me.
got mine from bobby m. great stuff. Bought the 1/16" stuff at first and it was a waste, too thin to be anygood. If you don't get it from bobby make sure its wall is 1/8" thick.
I have a few sour beers in my kegerator that im dieing to get into, but it may be up to a month before i attempt to brew my first one.
If i open some and pour the last 1-2 inches into a sanitized growler, will the dregs keep ok for ~1 month like that (kept air tight and at 40 degrees F)
i posted a similar issue last week with a jaybird FB. I was using a flexible dip tube and have since fabricated a solid one. I havent had the time to rebrew, but i think this combined with add a hose clamp on the dip tube just above the FB will help hold down the FB, I think my issue is that...
Thanks for the comments everyone. I just have to say Jaybird's got great customer service and a great product, I just have to use it correctly. The fact that I got a PM the next business day after posting on HBT speaks volumes to your responsiveness. Not a paid endorsement, just like hearing...
My diptube going into the false bottom is a peice of silicone connecting copper pipes on both ends. I thought i had bumped the dip tube out of the hole, and if that had been the case there is no way im sticking my hand in 152 F water in an attempt to re-place the dip tube. Because that is what...
