    Infection?

I tasted it, no issues, so I think it's going to be fine. Normally I wouldn't worry about it, but with the mold on the airlock (I think the alcohol evaporated out is all), I was suspicious. Plus, I've only brewed a couple times in the last year, so I was a little paranoid.

    Infection?

I've never had a problem with infection, so I'm not sure if I have a problem or not. This is a run of the mill stout, nothing special. Brewed about four months ago, went to bottle today, and noticed mold in the airlock (which was filled with vodka, so that's a little weird). Opened up the...

    Time to bottle?

Let it go longer, there's no harm. I typically wait at least three weeks. Are you measuring gravity?

Theoretically, say a brewery wants to brew my beer

Recipes aren't protected AT ALL. You cannot copyright a recipe, and you can't really license out use of your recipe - once he knows your recipe, he can do whatever he wants with it. The only part of a recipe that is protected is the publication of that recipe. If you put your recipe in a...

    Another alcoholic root beer thread

Here's a thought. What if you were to use root beer extract and sugar (or some other fermentable) like you normally would, but then used some other non-fermentable sweetener, like lactose or Splenda? Is there any reason that this couldn't produce a decent tasting alcoholic root beer?

    Slugs in beer keg?

They aren't in your beer, they're likely in the tip of the spout. Get a spout cover and leave it on when you're not pouring.

    Obama is a homebrewer

This is pretty cool. They brew beer at the White House... http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2012/08/15/158875907/president-obamas-tour-bus-rolls-with-white-house-home-brew

    Only 2 days to ferment??

Lack of bubbling in the airlock is nothing more than an indication of lack of bubbles in the airlock. It doesn't mean that you weren't fermenting. At that high a temp, it's certain possible that fermentation is mostly done in a couple of days. Give it another two or three weeks, though. At...

    Best Pink Floyd Song

Take a listen to Happy Jack by The Who. For years I though that this was an early Pink Floyd song, it would fit right in with Relics.

    Best Pink Floyd Song

Pretty much anything from The Final Cut, which is, in my opinion (which is sure to start some sort of riot, I know), is the best Floyd album.

Welcome! I became addicted in the exact same manner. Mr Beer first, did a couple of kits, then moved on to larger batches.

Poll: What method do you brew with?

Extract with grains for me. I can't see myself ever going full grain, I really like the process I have right now. I can do it all inside, and it takes less time (which means more time for brewing - which means more beer)
