    Need help balancing my water

Yeah, the water isn't quite that bad. Right after I posted that I put the numbers in with a higher nitrate and realized that was a pretty stupid thing to post. I'm not a smart man!:smack: Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

    Need help balancing my water

Thank you for your reply. I will take a sample and send it off and test the same sample myself to see how far off I am. It's a good possibility that there are a lot of nitrates in it. The water source is from a very large aquifer that is covered by farm land.

    Need help balancing my water

I bought the BrewLab test kit and everything has gone well. My test results over several days are really consistent. Part of my day job involves testing boiler water so I feel my testing skills are adequate. My problem is with my cation and anion imbalance in Brun Water. The only way to get...

    Yeast forward?

I'm going to jump in here too. I've been having the same problem. I've fixed a lot of my problem with fermenting in the mid to low 60's. But I still have that yeast taste at the end. I just kegged today and when I tasted it after checking the gravity I didn't notice it. This time I left it...

skimming before boil. anyone do it?

While we're talking about skimming or stirring. When the hop material gets on the sides of the brew kettle, should you scrape it off and put it back into the boil?

    Beer not fermenting after 48

All of my primaries have leaky lids and all of my brews have turned out fine. With the positive pressure of the CO2, nothing should get in.

    Chest Freezer not cooling

I'm not an expert but it sounds like you leaked refrigerant out in the spot that you mentioned. I don't think the water spill hurt anything. A repair man could repair the leak but it would cost a lot. Taking it apart, repairing the leak, pulling a vacuum, adding refrigerant. Several hours of...

Hot break, kettle finings, and immersion chiller whirlpool

On my last batch I used a paint stirrer on a drill to get a whirlpool while I was chilling with an immersion chiller. I was worried that I was just mixing up the break material. I really wasn't sure if this was good or bad. I ended up leaving a half gallon in the kettle. That's a lot in my...

    SS quick disconnects.

I was going to say Bargain Fittings. They have excellent prices, fast shipping, and great customer service. They usually have things here to me in Virginia in two days.

    SS quick disconnects.

I just got some off of ebay from China. They appear to be good quality, but they don't always seal up perfectly and the shipping times are long. I'm just using them to pump hot water so it's no big deal to me. I then found them just as cheap with quicker shipping from a company in Texas. I'm...
