I totally underestimated what putting unfiltered hops in my plate chiller would do. I've tried for the past hour and a half to flush water and cleaner (pbw, LD Carlson, and B-Brite) through both the wort in and out ports. Although the water gradually went from light green to clear, I cannot get...
So I have these hops I want to use in an IPA next week. The hops are being stored in a small plastic ziplock bag. Will they be ok in the ziplock bags until next week or should I vaccum seal them?
Nevermind just answered my own question. Never heard of the whirlpool technique. So can I basically just gravity feed the wort to my plate chiller slowly and stir the wort? I just ask bc the website mentioned the use of a march pump and I don't have one.
When your on a particular recipe in I-Brew and look at the hop boil times, some of the boil times for the hops are listed at zero. What are you supposed to do with the hops at that point? For example I'm looking at Jamil's Evil Twin IPA (extract) and the boil times for the last two rounds of...
Thanks for the tips guys. I always wondered if there was a difference. Used to both wash and sanitize with LD, but looks like starsan is the way to go for sanitization. I like how their bottles have the dose-measurement chamber built in. Beats constantly looking for measuring spoons!
Is there any difference between star-san, b-brite, LD carlson etc? By that I mean are some specifically for sanitizing and others for cleansing, or are they one in the same. I use LD Carson to both cleanse and sanitize. Is this ok?
I had the same problem with my last IPA. I gave the bucket a good shake and the airlock started to bubble hours later. After that it took about two and a half weeks to finish fermenting. Beer turned out ok in the end.
