Sounds Excellent. Thanks. I'm big on Porters and Stouts, so this will do fine.

    Only Ya'all will understand this...

Ditto. I wrap my Carboy with a towel and a navy snuggie, since I don't use the damn thing. Keeps light out, and the temp steady. I never see the yeast at work. I have to settle for air lock bubbles, and thats good enough for me.

Left over grains, what to do?

My recent partial-mash brew called for 1/2lb of Chocolate Malt and 1/2lb of Roasted Barley. Since NorthernBrewer only sold single lb bags, I have a half of each left over. Anyone know of any good partial-mash recipes that call for these particular grains?

    Skyrim and Mead

I've seen Mead in Elder Scrolls games, going back to Morrowind and Arena. Also other fantasy RPGs such as Fable. It's good to see the drink of choice hasn't changed. I want to brew a good Mead for my friends, we always call for a stein of Mead at the bar atleast once a night and think its...

Rookie - brewing for first time this evening

Don't fear the foam, Rack onto it. No worries. Research yeast starters for future brews. Sanitize, sanitize, sanitize. Be patient, don't rush to bottling because you're eager to drink the brew. And when in doubt, wait it out. If it has an off taste prior to primary or secondary fermentation...

    Bourbon in the airlock?

As the title asks, has anyone ever used bourbon in the airlock? I Didn't have any vodka, but I did have a bottle of bourbon. So I used a bit of it. Will it cause my brew any harm if it seeps in?

Says its rough turf now. Glad you got out. My gf is in SI. She's as interested in brewing as I am. I...

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

Excellent thread. I only have two extract brews under my belt, but I may try this out soon since I received 5lbs of grains in my NorthernBrewer delivery that I didn't order. :-x Not sure what grain yields what characteristic, but I'll figure it out eventually.

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

This thread has given me all the confidence to start brewing my second batch. My first was a colossal failure, A coopers kit where I had no idea about sanitizing, pitching temps, etc. I just cooked it up and topped it off with tap water, and let it sit. Tasted like Cider. Now some 10 months...
