Thanks for this information. I have not moved into All-Grain yet but this was definitely a nice read, at least for the not as advanced brewer like myself.
I hated trying to cool my extract batches in an ice bath. I recently purchased the Stainless Steel Immersion Chiller from NB for my 3rd batch and give that a go. What a huge difference and for $60 it was a very minimal investment for such a major return. I chilled a 3g batch from boiling to...
Brewing right now actually. Sitting and watching my smashing pumpkin ale finish its 60 min boil. Added baked/smashed pumpkin to my extract mash. Can't wait.
I wouldn't know where to begin with a plumbing job like that. But yes, it's 12x22 so it will definitely be a nice place to birth some beers. I love the fact that there is electricity in it so I can setup some temp controlled chest freezers and let them sit out of the way.
I 2nd, or 3rd, what has been said about Amazon Prime. If you buy a lot of stuff through them it is definitely worth it. Not to mention with Prime you get a lot of free online videos and tv shows like Netflix that you can stream to your computer.
I just bought a house. I used to brew in the kitchen on the coil stove but now I have a nice backyard. My plans are to just brew in the backyard. However, I do have a nice backyard shed that has electricity and ac, but no running water. My plans were to turn that into my fermenting room.
Yeah another ale pail is probably in my future. Going to build a stir plate so I can have some fun with those 1.050+ beers. Grats to everyone else that has their beers fermenting too.
Just finished bottling NB's Bavarian Hefeweizen kit. This place is always able to answer my questions so just wanted to say thanks again! Now to hurry up and wait a few weeks until enjoyment of said beer. Cheers
My bavarian hefe is approaching the 2 week fermentation mark. I'll be bottling in a day or two. Ferm temps for me were kept around 62-65 deg. I've never brewed a Hefe so I'm curious how this will come out.
Over a week in and I'm so glad that I switched to using this product. Temps have been extremely consistent in the low to mid 60s when the outside ambient temp was 78-79F. Great product, and not having to have to monitor a swamp cooler is very nice.
