HELP - starting gravity way too low!!

Grain for sure isn't bad unless you can smell it. Keep cool dry and it can go years. Measurements may be. You sure you don't have 4 gallons in the fermenter? Just sayin. Otherwise, your grind is bad, mash temp wrong,

    O2 free transfer paranoia ???

Oh, and I'll have to post a roughly 1650 book that advocates not boiling wort. Never tried it and won't....

    O2 free transfer paranoia ???

Sorry, I hate hazy beers..... and yeah, I forget 10 years ago was still 2014. I'm more from the HBD days.

    Electric Heating Element cleaning?

What to do.... Let me see..... Brew more beer. It will NOT hurt anything at all. And oven cleaner? NO

    O2 free transfer paranoia ???

It is paranoia. You don't want to splash any more than necessary, but push transfers are a fad and not needed. No one 10 years ago was doing it. And lots of good homebrew was made. Better with it? Nope. Yes, my opinion. If you do try and do O2 free transfers, knock yourself out.

    Oxiclean and plastic

A couple of points from above. Pvc and Abs are BOTH thermoplastic compounds. If heat will deform a plastic, it is THERMO i.e. Heat deforming plastic. A thermoset plastic is melamine or urea and it sets permanently when heat is applied. It will degrade when heated but not deform or become...

    Lagering Disaster....

I remember around 1994 or 1995 having my wife ask me what that popping and cracking sound was in the bathroom.... had a case of 24 bottled beers going pop goes the glass. What a mess

    Lagering Disaster....

Disaster would be beer on the floor. Give it time, it'll be drinkable. Maybe even good

    MoreBeer is out of California?

I don't and probably won't buy from them due to prior issue, but moving from Kali and east coast to Kansas City makes 100% sense. One warehouse, one set of managers, one set of employees, even if they add 20% warehouse staff, overhead costs for the location will drop for them by 50%. Kali...

Flashing/grommets in side of refrigerator for beer and gas line?

I 3d printed sets of bulkhead fittings I could force my hoses through. Mainly just to protect the hose and make it looks nicer

    I Love Nottingham Yeast

Just finishing a bitter that is 4.9% 1.042 og, 1.004 finish with Nottingham dry. Fermentation was 65f to start and 55 for most of this past week. Great yeast for English recipes

Going from my old, simple set up to something more "modern", opinions?

Used a three tier keg - propane fired for decades. Bought a 10.5 Anvil foundry a couple of years ago. Love it. Yes 240v use is a must. Bought a 5 gallon conical from them a few months after. Love the Two. I've kegged for years and it all works so much cleaner, faster and cheaper. No need...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Finished an English Bitter Friday. Three point Dachshund. New mini christened the side of my bucket with my grain it it when I set it down for a minute. Good thing he's short, no flavor enhancements we're added. The little ****...:)
