So I scored a really nice Sanyo full size Kegerator that is practically brand new. Set up for commercial beers obviously and works perfectly. Have a 5 gal key of Green Flash Hop Head Red flowing as I type. I'm actually brewing tomorrow so want to have necessary equip within a couple of weeks...
So I'm going to try and use liquid smack packs for the first time and wanted to know if it is really necessary to use a starter to obtain the proper cel count. I'm looking to pitch 18 M into my 1.083 OG wort and since each smack pack is noted as producing 6 M can't I just add 3 smack packs...
Thanks to all for the advice. Think I'm just gonna go for it and do both. On a side note I was lucky enough to get a brick of Westy 12 last week. Can't wait to try it. Surprising some Christmas guests with an exclusive tasting. Hope it's as good as all the recent hype.
So I have a few extract brews under my belt to which each has been better than the last. I think I can say I'm officially addicted to this hobby now. Ned some advice on what my next step should be. Should I invest in kegging or going all grain first? I'm leaning toward kegging because the...

I'm also a newbie but found that flipping through recipes and adding some easy additions to fit my liking has worked out really well. Currently drinking a hoppy amber ale that I am very pleased with. I feel its informational as well as giving me an understanding of the little nuances of...
So I have a couple boils under my belt (currently drinking one and another fermenting). I'm really enjoying myself with home brewing and would like some recommendations on what equipment upgrades I should make first. Currently using a turkey fryer as a kettle and have the 2 bucket fermenting...
Tasted great when bottled. Was really stoked on how well it came out. Acidic is a good word to describe. Not quite rancid. I guess I have no real choice but to wait a couple of weeks and see how it tastes. Only way to be sure right?
14 days in a primary. No secondary. Bottled on 14th day which was 5 days ago. OG was 1.060 and FG at bottling was just under 1.010 so thought I was defintely good to bottle. Cleaned and sanitized bottles with BEST iodine sanitizer. Any chance I just need more time than 5 days for finish...
