Theorizing: Cutting brew day time by using a Tankless Water Heater

You got me interested but if you look at the specs, the max temp is only 140. We're going to need another 30 degrees or so.

Kiwit: Belgian Strong or Weihenstephan Weizen

So I'm looking to brew a kiwit. Most recipes call for a wit yeast, but I want to brew soon and that is not an option. Well it is, but I'm up for a challenge. The two belgian strains I do have are Wyeast Belgian Strong and Weihenstephan Weizen. I have experience with both strains so that is...

MonsterMill thumbscrew tighness and gap adjustment

I too had a problem with the thumb screws. Long story short, contact Fred and ask him to send you some Hex bolts. Once I swapped them out I haven't had a problem since. It's really a great mill once you get that settled. Good luck.

    My new mash tun

Ben, First, thanks for the inspiration. Regarding cutting the lip of the kettle: I did not cut the whole lip, maybe just half on a 90 degree angle. Because it fits so tight in the cooler, I don't think I will have any issues with weakness. Haven't yet after about a dozen batches...

    My new mash tun

DPB, I did trim the top lip of the kettle so that I could keep the threads to screw on the lid. A little more work but turned out pretty clean. After a few batches, some of the seam cracked a bit, so I reinforced it with some kind of putty that hardened. I then sanded and painted so you...

First Berliner Weisse, plastic taste normal?

Just transferred my first berliner weisse to a secondary after about 2-3 weeks. Started the fermentation with Lacto for about 24 hours, then pitched a european ale yeast. The gravity is around 1.010 right now, but I expect it to drop further over the next few weeks/months as the lacto keeps...

    Corny Keg Fermentation Upside Down?

OEHokie, Give it a try before you cut or bend your dip tubes. I've been fermenting in cornys for a while now, and have not modified anything (except removing the popit when hooking up a blow off tube or airlock). I usually cold crash then transfer under pressure to the serving keg. I'll...

Dogfish head 90 minute clone discrepencies

Thanks, I wasn't sure if that was figured into the recipe or not. Oh, and congrats on 1st place with your recipe.

Dogfish head 90 minute clone discrepencies

How much wort do you start with for a 5 gallon batch? I have yet to try a 90 minute boil, but would assume you need more than the typical 6.5 gallons to end up with 5. thanks,

Do I want an eHLT ?

Thanks Walker, I'll have to see if that is going to work in my cooler. I'm sure it will, just have to decide if I want to drill another hole in it. Nice price though.

Do I want an eHLT ?

watersr, Check out my Hybrid Brew Rig in my signature. Make sure to click on Evilgnome6's link at the bottom of the thread. Great plans to make a 110 system on the cheap. AiredAle, Any details on your level switch? I've burned out one element and almost lost another. Sounds like...

Do I want an eHLT ?

I use an EHLT and propane for my kettle. I highly recommend an EHLT. Can't beat just programming a temp and walking away to do something else. I am also in no rush to complete the all electric upgrade. I really enjoy my system and probably won't think about changing it unless I decide to go...
