The steeping grains were 1lb of black patent and 12oz crystal 75L. Extract was 7lb light and 1lb dark. Yeast used was safale US-04.
Thanks for letting me know i'm good to go ahead and bottle. :D:mug:
I brewed a milk stout extract kit 14 days ago. Starting gravity was 1.055 right now it is at 1.024 and hasn't moved in over a week. It has a pound of lactose in it so it's really sitting around 1.016? I read that extracts tend to end up with high final gravity. So is this normal, safe to bottle...
Hah, ya I was probably being a little excessive with my spray bottle of star san but it just felt right. Along with constantly monitoring it's temperature in the swamp cooler and stressing hoping it will be alright, I feel like I've just had my first born. And it's a milk stout kit I got for...
Took a gravity reading of my first batch of homebrew that has been in primary for about 5 days. It's the first time I took the lid off since I pitched and sealed it up. I was spraying star san on everything and being so careful about the process I felt like I might as well be defusing a bomb.
My first homebrew ever is still in primary and since its kind of chilly tonight I'm drinking some hot apple cider with bourbon added. I got the cider from a local orchard cider mill, and wow, puts store bought apple juice to shame. I added an orange zest a cinnamon stick and some clove in it...
I'm new to home brewing in general and had a question involving preservatives.
I was at a local orchard today and bought some raw unfiltered cider from their cider mill store. It tastes amazing and they sell it in 1 gallon glass carboys so it's just begging to get a stopper and airlock thrown...
Ya I sent them an email about 30min after it was delivered hah. I also realized with an extract kit it wouldn't matter that much I just figured since it would be my first brew I should get accustomed to the whole process and the necessary steps.
My starter kit just got delivered about an hour ago and is missing the hydrometer. I had planned on brewing tomorrow too. Oh well first ever brew session will have to wait until next week, time for a beer.
