Wort chiller B3-12A 60 plates question

I've bought this thing, B3-12A 60 plates chiller on aliexpress, it seems like a good piece of equipment but I am not as satisfied as I thought I would be and I have a few questions. It is not labeled at all so the first question is - does it have predefined wort and water chambers and their...

    Brewing pump

I am in the process of making a 130 liter capacity nano brewery and current problem is the pump. As for the types, it is all clear but the flow rate is a big question. What is the optimum flow rate, to be time efficient but not to lose as much temp and not to over-stir the wort/beer?

    Determening style

I was wondering how can I determine what style am I brewing when using some leftover malt instead of following recommended recipe? I was left with some Carafa III and some crystal so I went on to use that and the results are pretty satisfying but it left me with this question in mind.

Some (probably) basic questions regarding yeast washing

I've read the sticky before but did not find answers to my questions. What have I done wrong to have it not settled right? As for the pitching of washed yeast, I understand that the cell count is approximate and that I can have no idea of the cell count per jar, I see no other way than to accept...

Some (probably) basic questions regarding yeast washing

The material if from a 10 gallon batch, not a 5 one, washed only once and extracted middle layer. Do you pay attention on cell count and is it even possible when working with yeast this way? Seems to me as a really approx way of working, would love to see a bit of math there.

Some (probably) basic questions regarding yeast washing

I tried yeast washing for the first time and have a few newbie questions. The first time I washed the yeast with boiled and cooled water some 3 times the volume of the yeast itself, let it settle and then extracted the middle layer into a jar (first photo). The reason I did that is because my...

    Grape juice cider experiment

The fermentation has started the next day, and yes, it is in a bucket that is obviously not air tight. I opened the bucket to give it a sneak peek, it is fermenting and has some not so good looking bubbles on top, will see if I contaminated it somehow after the fermentation is over.

    Grape juice cider experiment

So the other week I was draining juice from grapes for the wine and it occured to me that I could try and make a cider out of it, since the amount of wine we got from our vineyard vastly exceeds my familly's needs for that beverage. So I did some calculations, pasteurised the juice, added water...

    Brass and zync coated materials?

Stainless steel=INOX, but I can't seem to find it here in Serbia.

    Brass and zync coated materials?

I have an electric pot that had a small faucet that leaked so I removed it and now I am trying to seal that hole with some kind of a bolt. It is rather hard to find an INOX bolt so the things I could find were made of brass and nickel/zinc coated materials. What, if any, of these materials would...

    Yeast washing, few questions

    Yeast washing, few questions

Thank you all for the replies! Also, another question, since I come from Serbia where mason jars are hard to find (and more than probably quite expensive), what is the difference between those and regular jars with regular threads? I suppose that mason jars are used because they are somewhat...

    Yeast washing, few questions

So I am about to wash my yeast for the first time and have a few questions. - what is the shelf life of a washed yeast? - how do you store it and should it be in a slightly open or tightly closed jar? - is a washed yeast bound to be used in the same beer style or not (can I use a washed...

    SMaSH style question

Well, I like to think it tastes something like an pale ale but considering that I am a newbie, I am not sure if my experience is good enough to make such evaluation. I am pretty sure that I didn't give it enough hops to classify it as IPA but it could be that also, I don't know. Fermentation...
