Small amount of iso in my carboy

My brew partner jammed the blow off tube onto the airlock, in order to make a blow off tube. (we didn't have the big tube) While doing this he cracked the airlock plastic.. so when it was time to remove the tube and place the actual airlock on the carboy, it was broken. Problem is i didnt...

Zombie Dust kind of sucks now...

I'm not sure what FFF did to the recipe, but this beer has definitely changed over that past few years. Maybe they cut down on the citra or subbed another hop in its place, I'm not sure, but it definitely does not have the bite it used to. I have been noticing this in bottles and in tap. It...

We are using a glass carboy. And there isn't much wiggle room for the siphon

    Racking tips

How do you guys leave minimal beer when racking? We cold crashed so the trub was solid and we use the biggest auto-siphon. We also kept the black cap on. As we moved the nosel towards the trub (towards the end of racking) it would either start sucking air or some of the trub. I once read a...

    First hop addition

Ok cool thats what I thought. About an hour ago I rewatched the brewing video with the two guys that brew in the kitchen, and they added the hops right after they put the DME in. It wasn't boiling at all. It didn't seem right so i had to ask.

    First hop addition

After adding the DME, do we bring it back to a boil and then add hops? Or do we add the malt and hops then start the 60 minute timer? Yesterday we killed the heat, added the DME, brought it back to a boil then started the 60 minutes. thanks

I can't think of an original name...

Just for fun, I have been thinkin of funny names for the beers we are brewing. We only brew IPAs so every name is related to hops.. Some cool ones that are available: Hoptical Illusion Hop Notch Hoptimum Hoptometry those are the first few that came to my mind. Anyways, I can't come up with...
