    True Brew Instructions - WTF???

Okay, so, doing this as a five gallon boil. 1) Remove the label from the can of malt extract, wash the can, and place it in a pot of hot water to soften the syrup. 2) Place 5.5-6 gallons water in the brewpot, and bring to a boil. Amount over 5 gallons will depend on how much you boil off...

    True Brew Instructions - WTF???

Guys, you'll note those things are mostly covered in my altered instructions :) Note the aeration, or the starter, but the temps and I did mention that 3-4 days was probably too short.

    True Brew Instructions - WTF???

Yep, I think I will. Might write a version that way after getting the basic (small brewpot version more nailed down)

    True Brew Instructions - WTF???

My suggested changes, and as I said I'm new, so if somethings wackadoo, please let me know. :) Brewing: 1) Remove the label from the can of malt extract, wash the can, and place it in a pot of hot water to soften the syrup. 2) Place 1-1 ½ gallons water in the brewpot, and bring to a...

    True Brew Instructions - WTF???

So, I have one of these kits, and I hope to brew it this weekend, modifying the instructions a bit. So, lets actually make the better ones here. If someone out there looks for help making this particular kit (True Brew Nut Brown Ale) I think they should find a replacement guide, not just...

Thank you all for my ferm chamber

Sorry, did some rearranging and forgot to fix the links. Gallery here...... http://s798.photobucket.com/user/glhs837/library/Homebrew?sort=3&page=1 I'll relink the above ones in sequence. Base with casters, five, with one in the center, all free wheeling. Framed walls with...

    Inexpensive carboy brush.....

http://www.lowes.com/pd_3527-1738-258CRGM_0__?productId=3573436 Very rigid when bent, easy to shape to hit those upper sections where the worst crud gathers. Pic below is a hit from Google images, not mine.

How many brew on a wood deck?

Same here, only two batches so far, but no issues, the heat all goes up.

Fermentation temp control for multiple carboys

With one minifridge, you can, if you have the skills (basic carpentry and the ability to wire a wall socket) build a chamber that will easily fit two carboys. Cost should be in the $100-$200 range. Now if you want two different temps, you would be looking at setting one chamber off with foam...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

If this means you are following the recommended times, I think that one thing you can do is wait longer than they say. Let it sit at least two weeks in the LBK, I went three on all of mine, and three in the bottle. I always had very clear beer.

    Beer Box

I dont think this is too far out, priced against a new 5 gallon single keg system. http://www.midwestsupplies.com/5-gallon-new-keg-system.html. Not as sexy, of course, but I could fit this in a fridge that is doing other stuff, or put half the batch in one fridge (or take with me...

What was your Gatewaybeer to craft beer?

Nope, it was too long ago for that, but I know I had a sampler of six types, I can clearly remember being amazed at the different colors and flavors, washing down some Cajun Blackened Catfish with swallows from each glass.

Fermentation Chamber Built...now how to manage temperature (STC-1000)

It's now a for profit, and so is a .com http://www.brewpi.com/ Someday when the budget is larger, I do plan to play with such.

What was your Gatewaybeer to craft beer?

Easy, the year was 1987, the place Mountain View, CA. I was stationed at NAS Moffett Field. The place was a gas station converted to a microbrewery (Whaaa? They make beer here!!! In this same building?, Crazy!!!) called the "Tied House", brochures explained it was a tribute to places of the same...
