    Chocolate Malt in IPA?

I was wondering if anyone has tried this with success. This was one of those things that I always tried to stay away from, as really fully bodied and sweet IPA's and Double IPA's are not my thing at all. Sierra Nevada came out with a new Ruthless Rye IPA and gave this information about it...

too much or muddled dry hops for regular IPA?

Not worried about haze, just worried that it might be hop particles and lend to off flavour. The beer in the bottom of the bottling bucket was a bit green. I have dryhopped with 2 oz before before with great success, but never tried 4.

too much or muddled dry hops for regular IPA?

Just wondering if you went through with the 4oz of dry hop. I just dry hopped my DIPA with 4 oz and it turned out wicked hazy (strained through 2 hop bags) and smells hop juice. I just hope its drinkable!

    Galaxy wheat

I'm very excited to see how this works out. I would pick up some Galaxy but I just made a very large purchase of Citra and Simcoe (panic - they are hard to find right now!) I really like the clean grain bill - if this turns out I may have to pick up a bunch

    American Amber - Questions

I've seen the recipe for Ballast Point Amber and wanted to make something similar but not a clone. I did some taste testing before coming up with a recipe and I like cascades and centennial as finishing hops more than the Amarillo in Green Flash. If I add a half pound of C120 and drop the...

    American Amber - Questions

I have not made an Amber before and had some questions and was hoping for some recipe critique. I want an American Amber that isn't as hoppy as Green Flash Hop Head Red Ale, but still uses American hops and has a decent malt body to it. I really like Ballast Point Calico Amber Ale...

    All Citra IPA's

I bought the Sorachi Ace version of Mikkeller's single hop IPA and will try that tomorrow night! I have been curious about that hop too and was excited it was right next to citra. If you find one of Mikkeller's single hop beers, they are done well - highly recommended.

    All Citra IPA's

I've got to try a few all citra IPA's (strickly for educational purposes obviously) and was wondering what other people thought of this hop. I didn't get the "cat piss" aroma or flavor that I've heard from other people experimenting with it. Also while it has that tropical fruit flavor, I...

    Rye and Vienna in PA/IPA?

I was trying to stay away from the sweetness of crystal. My last IPA was only 4% C40 and 4% carapils and was really good, but I wanted to try something a little different. The rye was more for head retention and to help dry it a little bit instead of carapils. I'm planning on mashing at 152...

    Rye and Vienna in PA/IPA?

I was wondering if you think this grain bill would work. I was playing with Beer Smith and I was thinking it might be light and crisp enough to make a good backbone for a hoppy pale ale or IPA. I would mash for medium body and shooting for 1.061 OG and try to finish it up at 1.012 10.00...

IPA with Cascade, Citra and... ?

Citra/Cascade is my favorite IPA hop combo. Your hop schedule looks mighty tasty there. You may have just talked me into brewing an IPA this weekend...

    Cal Ale V - WLP051

I tried this yeast in two beers and both are not delicious. The yeast added a fruity tang and hint of horse blanket, and both I was not expecting. I have since brewed with the same equipment and not had any of these characteristics in my beers so I know its not a bug. I really doesn't work...

    Project IIPA

I did 3 oz of flavor and 3 oz of dry in a way that Stone does for Ruination. The clone recipes i've seen for that has 2 oz cent at 15 mins and 2 oz for dry hop. I have the extra hops so doing 3 oz at 15 mins, 3 oz at flame out and 3 oz dry hop would not be an issue. I want this beer to be 8%...

    Project IIPA

Any help would be great. I have not brewed anything this big or this hoppy so I was hoping for some critiques from people who have. I love IIPA's like Ruination, Pliny, and Tricerahops, and wanted to try something along those lines. Light malt body. Overwhelming aroma and flavor. I am...
