My last 2 batches have been fermenting since 1/26. I measured gravity today and the honey one went from 1.080 to 1.020, and the maple one 1.070 to 1.015. They are delicious, slightly sweet and have perfect fizz.
Could I bottle now? If I do, would I have to stovetop pasturize? If I wanted...
I don't completely dislike beer, but I'd choose other things first, such as wine or cider. I used to hate wine, but learned to like it a lot. I really would like to learn to love beer, too. There are so many kinds and it just looks fun to make.
The beer I have found that I most enjoy is Mac &...
I have an Omega Vert something.. it's a masticating juicer for my daily green juice and it crushes the juice out of the fruit. I get very very dry pulp and amazing juice from it, (and no foam!) but I am not sure how the motor would like crushing gallons at a time.
Masticating juicers give...
This is just making me want to do a 5 gallon batch. :) I will just take these gallons as experiment gallons and not worry about "wasting" while checking gravity. So... I can drink what I take out to check the gravity? I'm so nervous about tasting it, and I don't know why.
OK, well, that didn't work. The hydrometer is too tall to float in the one gallon jug at the lower readings. Works fine at 1.070 and 1.080 (the starting gravity of the batches I started today) but sunk right to the bottom of the one that's been fermenting for a week.
Guess I am...
Thank you! I'm aiming for dry. All the way, I guess. Then add the calc'd amount of sugar to bottle carb. I figure if I end up hating it completely dry, I can add a few drops of stevia after I pour it into a glass to drink. I like dry wine so I assume I'll like dry cider. I have had a couple...
