Adding Pumpkin Pie Spice Very Late

Hah, awesome, thanks! Should I add it now and let it sit in the growler for a few weeks? I'm going to be putting it in a pressurized growler a few days before we drink it to let it fully carb up.

Adding Pumpkin Pie Spice Very Late

Hello all, happy October! I ran out of time to do a pumpkin beer this year, so I was wondering... Could I add pumpkin pie spice "extract" to a sealed grouler (oatmeal stout) I made 4-5 months ago to have a pumpkin-y flavored beer on Halloween? I'm not trying to win awards, just something for...

I have brewed about 10 batches of beer, last two were tangy.

For anyone interested, I changed our water source to well water and our beers (3 batches) have consistently come out great!

I have brewed about 10 batches of beer, last two were tangy.

Thanks @hottpeper13! Slight update: Disassembled bottling wand. There was no gunk in it and it was actually very clean. Considering it is cleaned and sanitized after every use, then cleaned and soaked and run through with more sanitizer again before use (as is all our equipment), I'm...

I have brewed about 10 batches of beer, last two were tangy.

Thanks for all the replies! My take away here is just to double check on sanitizing the bottling wand. It's the only part of the equation that could contaminate as I have never disassembled it to clean it. Everything gets thoroughly cleaned, soaked-sanitized, but the spring in there might be...

I have brewed about 10 batches of beer, last two were tangy.

Thanks for the replies! @THESULLI Ingredients were new kits, ordered off Amazon. I would say that it might be slightly warmer by a 2-3 degrees than previous house. Ambient room temp is kept at 69-71 F (small room with its own A/C). Sanitization procedure: Carboy: Hot rinse and wash, then...

I have brewed about 10 batches of beer, last two were tangy.

Hello! I have brewed a decent amount of successful 5 gallon batches from various kits that all tasted good, some great, some incredible! The last two have had a bit of a tangy taste to them and I'm not sure why. Generally I let it ferment in the primary about a week or two (maybe a few days...

    True Brew - German Light

Curious how everyone's results were with this beer. This was my 3rd brew, everything went smoothly. Came out a good beer but not a pilsner, like I thought. It has a slight red hue (instead of straw), looks more like a light amber. My wife loves it. It's mild, but it has a tad tangy-ness...

Plastic Bottles Carbing Better Than Glass

Just because I hate open-ended posts, here's an update: They all carbed up with more time. :)

Starting the siphon with your mouth, Dangerous?

From what it sounds like in this thread, it seems no one is 100% sure if it even contaminates the beer, just common sense speculation (which makes TOTAL sense given bacteria is bacteria). A few claims of soured beer but that doesn't mean it was from the siphoning. I came across this thread...

Plastic Bottles Carbing Better Than Glass

Thanks guys. Actually after posting this I had a plastic one where the carbonation was a tad less than the other plastic ones. Maybe I'm pluckin'em too soon. I'll give them some more time.

Plastic Bottles Carbing Better Than Glass

Right on, thanks for the help. I wasn't sure if it was a common thing or not. I really like the plastic bottles though so I bought another pack. I'll let these glass bottles sit a while and just enjoy the brew from the plastic ones!

Plastic Bottles Carbing Better Than Glass

Yeah it's all the same exact batch. I was assuming the caps too. Hmm, that's worrisome. They came with the kit and all the bottles are in great shape, only reused from my own recycling. Is it possible they are carbing up faster in the plastic bottles vs glass? Thanks for your help!

Plastic Bottles Carbing Better Than Glass

Hello all! First post! Also, my first batch of beer. I bottled about half glass (not twist off) and half plastic (coopers bottles). The plastic bottles are very noticeably better carbonated. The plastic bottles are all the same, the glass ones are all sorts of sizes. All of the normal...
