Has anyone tried this yeast. It's not the same as regular alcotec 48. From product description:
What do you think? Can't find any reviews online. Haven't used alcotec before, maybe this would smell less and result in a clearer finished product? I won't be distilling it, making 14% for mixing.
Would this be ok for a 5 gallon carboy to use as water bath? It's winter so i'll put a fish tank heater in it. The bucket is 45L.
If i set heater to say 22c, would the liquid in the carboy actually also be 22c? Even with the heat from fermentation?
Well these heaters are glass with a little plastic ontop, how hard can it be to sanitize it?
Would prefer not to have to buy a 2nd bucket just for a bath. Besides i went with PET carboy so i can see the fermentation happening, 2nd bucket bath might as well just use a bucket for the primary...
I've decided to get a PET carboy.
Can i just put a fish tank aquarium in it? I'd rather not have to buy a seperate bucket to use as a bath for it.
Any downsides other than having to make sure it is sterile? I've used google and can't even find a photo of anyone with this setup.

Can i confirm that, if one fills up a 6 gallon carboy with 6 gallons, the liquid goes all the way to the neck opening? As in, 1mm more liquid and it would start to pour out.
I thought the capacity is up to the part where it starts to taper.
I know what that is, worked in industrial process engineering for a decade. These are used in nuclear process facilities for treating dried uranium oxide concentrate, this is one part of a bigger cascade used for that purpose. Totally unmistakable.
Normally would be disposed of correctly and...
This stuff is cheap. Quite interested in trying out a batch of 14% made with this stuff. Then adding the fillings to clear it a bit.
Would it be drinkable? Only water sugar and this yeast... Make one sick? Foul tasting even if i add some punch/squash to it?
Have quite a strong stomach for foul...
Damn... really want to brew 40 pints at a time, and there aren't 6.5 us gallon ones for sale in the uk that i've seen.
It's really cold here and there are temp swings in my home, so i'll be using an immersion heater too... 20 pints at a time isn't worth it for me and 2x heater and carboy is...
Thanks for the replies. I'll go for one of those! :)
My last Q about it is, can i brew a full 40 pint 23 litre kit in one, without it overflowing all the time? I'll be using it to ferment in. Also anyone got a photo of theirs in action?

I was looking into vessels to ferment beer and possibly mead, then thought that the glass carboy's are neat because you can see what's going on inside. The other thing i like is...
That video is quite terrifying! If i get the right vessel can't i just brew and pressurize in the same thing? If the tap is above the bottom the sediment would be bellow it anyway?
A fish tank heater just seems easier... set it and forget it.
That explosion... i guess a c02 injection valve...
