    Recipe Advice

I posted earlier this week about using some surplus hops for a Black IPA. I won't be able to get the grains here in time to brew this weekend, so I had to shift gears! Any thoughts on this NEIPA inspired recipe? It would use all but 1oz of the homegrown northern brewer hops I have on...

    Have hops, need recipe

Awesome advice saltymirv and oylerk! Thanks so much. I like the idea of rye in the grain bill for something a little different. I'll read through that article and throw something together in Brewer's Friend to post here for critique.

    Have hops, need recipe

Hey all! I've slowly moved from extract on the stove top, to a turkey frier outdoors and now do BIAB all grain. I've always bought kits, but am ready to venture out to building my own recipes. I hoping someone here will be kind enough to hold my hand and walk me through what goes into...

Best practice - kegging half batches

I always brew with a friend splitting a 5 gallon batch. I'm ready to move into kegging (have an old freezer ready to go) but my brewing partner is not. So he will still need to fill bottles. I have a few questions on the best practices for doing this. 1.) Do I get 2.5 or 3 gallon kegs...

    Sweet Stout Mishap

A while back I bought some home brew supplies off craigslist. Included were four kits from morebeer. The first three were brewed and I brought the last one, a sweet stout, over to a buddies house to brew. I grabbed all the ingredients left from the craigslist purchase assuming they all...

I lied about my first beer

Sounds familiar to my first brewing experience. High yeast pitching temp led to one funky tasting Belgium Wit!

    1st Post... 1st Failure!

Well.... after a little more time in the bottle, things have mellowed out in the beer! It still tastes a bit off to me... but the astringency has gone way down. I'm wondering if it's the orange peel or coriander spices that I'm not getting along with? Brewed my second batch the other night...

    1st Post... 1st Failure!

Thank you all for you prompt replies and tips to make my second brew a success! I'll leave it sit in the bottle a few more weeks before I decide if I should dump it or not! To answer a few questions brought up... It was an extract kit. There were no steeping grains and it used LME...

    1st Post... 1st Failure!

As the title says, I just finished my first batch of beer, and it's suitable only for pouring down the drain. I'll try to recount my brewing experience along with what I feel might be possibilities of where I went wrong. I'm hoping some of you seasoned professionals can help me determine...
