So I'm in the process of drying a few cones, I guess the aphids really had their eyes set on one of the cones, went to the basement and thought wow that is one fuzzy looking hop ...... than the fuzz started to move.
Just wondering what it is and what I can do to prevent this next year, other plants don't look effected, cut this one down to prevent spread. Lot's of little white mites all over the entire plant as well. 2nd year cascade.
Don't know if this has been covered here but the pic says it all, push out as much air as you can than stick any fast food straw into the bag and suck out as much air as you can. Works great, I dry my hops down to 20% of their original weight,
Look for dents on the inside, make sure the handles aren't falling off, take a 7/8" 12 point wrench with you, check all posts and poppets in posts for seals and rust, hold dip tube and c02 inlet tube up to a light and see if you can see any rust inside them.
I used bat crap, and sheep manure, than filled a 5 gal bucket of water and tied a sock filled with manure and chucked it in the bucket. The hops and everything else in my garden seemed to like the crap tea, go for it.
I'm also using the cheap juste twine, though I tied two sets per hops than twisted them together with the electric drill. I'll see if I can get a pic up to show how the wind may be of a concern with the length my lines are. Edit: So the pic worked this is from last year, where I had been...
