Electric brewery plans - need help

I think I found something. I tried with an old switch I had instead of the one installed in the panel fot the element, and it worked. I bought lighted switches on ebay, and it may be that I just got what I paid for :(

Electric brewery plans - need help

Finally, I got to test my system today. I followed the exact wiring of the first page of this thread. I filled my BK with water and fired on the element. My PID was set to just below boiling. Everything worked fine for about 10 minutes. Temp was raising steadily. And then I heard the contactor...

Electric brewery plans - need help

Ok. Looking at the electric diagram of the first page of this thread, it seems that the 15 amps breakers are wired to the pumps, the PIDs and the contactors' coils. The pumps I have are the March 809 HS-C, with 0.29kW at 115V, so 3.1 amps max. Don't know about the contactors tough. So why 15...

Electric brewery plans - need help

Ok I understand better now. So does it mean that I can use 16 amp circuit breakers instead of the 15 amp as per the plan ? Because I found these and am not sure if I can use it. As for the emergency switch, do I need a normally open one ?

Electric brewery plans - need help

I have a question about the emergency kill switch. If I understand correctly the diagram, if you push the button, you close the circuit wich sends currant directly to the ground bus, tripping the GFCI circuit breaker. So does it mean that the switch has to be Normally Open? The one I bought is a...

Electric brewery plans - need help

Quick question here for I am no electrician.. Why are the receptacles for the elements rated for 30A, when the contactors are for 40A ? And if I understand correctly the wiring diagram, 2 hot lines of 25A goes in the contactors ? Just want to be sure that I understand correctly because I...

Electric brewery plans - need help

In fact I am planning to build the same system that is discussed in this thread, with the same electrical input. Almost all the parts needed have arrived. But to answer your question, I think it would be one at the time, but maybe the OP could tell us more about it ?

OK. How this kind of setup would change the wiring diagram presented in the first page of this thread ?

Electric brewery plans - need help

Hi guys, still gathering the parts before I begin buiding this system. I want to adapt it with a HERMS coil in the HLT. So what I'm wondering is do I need a third PID to read the wort temp exiting from the mash tun to the HERMS coil ? If so, how would that change the wiring diagram ? My...

Great ! Thanks guys. Quick question for P-J, about the small fuses. Are all the 1A fuses fast-blow or just the ones protecting the PIDs ?

Electric brewery plans - need help

Hi, first, let me say that your built really inspired me. I read the entire thread :cross: , and am now ready to try to build something similar. BTW, big thanks to P-J for his easy to understand wiring diagrams. I am now looking for and buying parts for the project. Searching for th momentary...
