Gravity Chillers with larger wort volume?

Yeah sliding to a stand with some kind of wheels is my current plan. And probably making the immersion chiller myself from copper. We have 25meter (82feet) long rolls sold here in Finland. I just have to think the correct diameter. The smallest one is 6mm (1/4"), then there's 8mm, 10mm and...

Gravity Chillers with larger wort volume?

Yeah hops too 😊👍 This is my stovetop, wood fired, plenty of power and space. But situated in the wrong place logistically for brewing with plenty of gadgets.

Gravity Chillers with larger wort volume?

I dislike almost every single tool that isn't absolutely needed to get something done. I try to keep everything hassle free. I've cooled the 18L wort by carrying the kettle outside and placing the wort-kettle inside of a bigger water container and then adding cold water and waited. Usually...

Gravity Chillers with larger wort volume?

Yeah, I think you are correct. This might be the best way forward. But if I'm correct, there isn't any/many immersion chillers that can handle upto 80L of wort cooling in reasonable time? I could buy thin copper-pipe and coil a larger one. Might be cheaper?

Gravity Chillers with larger wort volume?

Thank you for the reply and good info 👍😊 Here in Finland we do have good variety of plate-chillers, although they tend to be more industrial type. Also by price too... So I might have to order online. Counterflow (tubular) chillers might be good too. Those seem to take a lot of space and for...

Gravity Chillers with larger wort volume?

Hi all. I've done brewing only biab, and plan to do so everytime . Usually only max 19L batches on a regular large kettle on a stovetop (wood fired stove). Now I'm about to buy a larger kettle to get 25L of wort or maybe upto 50L of wort (35 - 80L kettle). The kettle would have an ball valve...

Easy single malt IPA with few hops?

Soo, it been awhile and my first 5L batch of beer was good. Not much alc in it (by feel). Something that would be great with somethin meaty to eat. Now I'm looking for something very easy to drink with some more alc (4-6%). I have pale malt and some amber malt (made by myself, from scratch)...

How to use these plastic bottle-caps?

Hi all! How should I use these caps :https://www.beerewine.it/tappi-alettati-bianchi-confez-100-pezzi/ I could not find any instructions, do I need a "standing" capper to this? I got some 750ml bottles that have 29mm opening for 29mm crown caps. I got these plastic caps (in the link) for free...

    Collecting yeast after gelatin?

Could I transfer the beer to another container (not bottles) and then use the gelatin in this? After clearing, I could bottle? And I could collect the yeast from the fermentor after transferring the beer?

    Temperature drop during fermenting?

Yeah, I did but my 100ml tall sampling glass was too short and I didn't get any reading, since it didn't want to float... At the beginning it was 1.037, but now after two weeks of fermentation, I didn't get the reading...

    Temperature drop during fermenting?

Quick update: finished bottling and tasted the non-carbonated beer from the FG-measurement. It was good and hoppy. Little bit too hoppy. Can't wait to test is after couple of weeks, when carbonated! So the temperature drop didn't really affect it in a detrimental way.

    Collecting yeast after gelatin?

So I was thinking of clearing the next batch using gelatin. But I'm also looking forward to collect the yeast after bottling. Does the use of gelatin (to clear the beer), affect the usability of the yeast?

    Frozen yeast bank procedure

I've read about plastic tubes (seen them sold online) that can take 122°C temperature like autoclaves. Doesn't the Boro glass tubes shatter in the freezer? When the water expands, when turning into ice.

What I did for beer today

Just started malting barley. 20L (4,4 gallons) barley seeds were steeping and now that they are moist and softer I wait them to chit. First time was a catastrophic failure (mould), second time went on and is now fermenting. So this is the third time, and now the food dehydrator is full (cold...
